Trying to think about a more user-friendly WolfMAME

WolfMAME is obviously the most used MAME build for recordings. Since 0.106 it lost all the exclusive features of MAME Plus!, including for example the built-in autofire (which isn't allowed for MARP recordings anyway). However, the biggest problem's always been the lack of a frontend. Still today, a...

Re: K8 - Round 6 - Pipe Dream (pipedrmj)

There were so many options for you. You could have asked for a week suspension of the tournament to the coordinators and shoesama. This is the final round, so i think that an agreement was in the interest of everybody and that it could have been easily reached. You could have played in the little sp...

Re: K8 - Round 6 - Pipe Dream (pipedrmj)

Shoe-sama is an exceptional player, far from random. That's not my point. My point is, everyone who arrives in the finals is automatically the champ and that's simply not right. What kind of a champ is the one that wins for an immediate retirement of the other contender in the last and most challen...

Re: K8 - Round 6 - Pipe Dream (pipedrmj)

I haven't joined the tournament because i had not enough time to play and, honestly, because i don't like to play in tournaments in the first place. Nevertheless, i was honored to be part of K7 and to play against you in the finals. That said, i think that your retirement choice in this final round ...

Re: Die Hard Arcade

I've leaved that for the japanese release  (which is better in my opinion, because default settings include the blood effect). So, are the new score rules official? Can i post my 674 points replay? By the way, there's another thing to report. I've used WolfMAME 0.130 to record my files ...

Re: Die Hard Arcade

This scoring system would encourage you to fail every QTE involving enemies (there are four of them through the entire game) because you can score 10 points by killing the enemy in normal combat situation. That's what i have done on purpose in my new recording. As i wrote before, this enemies are to...

Re: Die Hard Arcade

Not sure how you get 66 ? I've counted (but I'm not sure) 57 enemies + last boss defeated 2 times + 7 "success" + 1 "failure" = 57+2+7+0=66 ? So with new scoring it would be 597 (and a perfect game would be 598 ?) Enemies are counted as follows. First stage: 11 Second stage: 19 ...

Re: Die Hard Arcade

I've recorded a new run at this game, a perfect one i might add. I'll wait to send it until the scoring method is clarified.

Die Hard Arcade

http://replay.marpirc.net/r/diehard My score count is strictly related to the special rule: every enemy counts 1. You have to defeat the last boss twice, in different conditions, so i think he should give you 2 points. To make things more interesting, i suggest to count points only for enemies that ...

Re: Gambling games, leaderboard points

MAME doesn't emulate for gaming purpose, but for preservation. Not everything that's preserved has some gaming relevance, and i think that gambling games have absolutely ZERO ability required to play. I ultimately think that a site that archives game replays like MARP doesn't need stuff like that, i...

R-Type replay

Phantomas' replay is actually listed in the parent R-Type (World) list while it shoud be in the R-Type (Japan) list, as it's been realised using WolfMAME 0.106 and the parent game at the time was the japanese version.

Violent Storm

Today i was watching some pages of MARP and i've noticed that WADE's replay of Violent Storm ver. JAC (link) is not confirmed. An oversight?

I've uploaded my Single Match replay, thanks a lot! :)

I've also noticed that the description shows [Single Match] twice; it should be corrected
