Re: Alien Syndrome life leeching

I doubt early players used the stage 4 method as it's difficult to set up and needs a lot of research. It's SUPER easy to do on stage 1. Reach 100,000 points by shooting the blobs that the boss spawns, then walk around until time runs out. Stage 1 pattern is to get the bottom [?], then get the one i...

Re: Alien Syndrome life leeching

Pac-man is definitely referring to what I've been describing here. Spend an hour grabbing lives and 12 million is easy even if you're terrible at the game. Life leeching works on any stage. It's just a lot faster and less stressful on stage 4. On stage 1-2 you gain 1 life per 3 minutes. On stage 3 y...

Re: Alien Syndrome life leeching

That isn't accurate. Score must be exactly 100,000 points. 1,000,000 does not work, neither does 1,100,000. If the entire displayed score is not EXACTLY 100,000 then obtaining a 1up is impossible. This applies to every version of the game in MAME. Container code (aliensynj) 008C0E btst #$6, ($0,A5) ...

Re: Alien Syndrome life leeching

Not entirely inaccurate.

I did find out about this roughly 12 years ago. I just couldn't be bothered to write it up. For 12 years.

Alien Syndrome life leeching

I expect this is why Gamest had scores of >10 million. Summary: - It is possible to leech 128 lives at the beginning of the game. - It can only be done when you have exactly 100,000 points, so point leeching is impossible. - It is not possible to top up your lives afterwards unless you clock the sco...

I lied.

Though I may not bother at all. I'm bored with crappy games, and I've got better things to do. Like playing not-crappy games. Or picking my nose.

This is the last time I leave it until 4 hours before the deadline before I start playing... My eyes are sore now.

(Edit: I couldn't even see the version right... Fixed it now)

It's very easy to leech from there without harming the boss. Just find a spot in one of the upper corners where the boss can't hit you, then block yourself in with the spawn point so you can't hit the boss either.

It's probably better to just disregard all points scored on that level.

Example2: You map keys Q,W,E,R,T,Y to mame button 1 and smash them simultaneously, to get unhuman firing speed ---not allowed Doing that will end up worse than just tapping a single button. You will only ever be able to fire if you release all of the buttons before pressing another one, which will ...

I just measured the performance of my controllers' buttons. Basically I pressed a few buttons at once, and measured the time between the presses. A = Average time between the buttons (In frames. Averaged from 100 results at 60 frames per second) D = Distribution: (Frames : Ratio) 2 buttons Keyboard ...

Gavin has a special gift for that. ...only when heavily under the influence of Irn-Bru. Which is all the time. So I guess that's irrelevant. Seriously, though... The advantage gained by using digital input for Analog controlled games is just as significant as using one button for two (unless very p...

While we're at it, let's ban playing OutRun with anything other than a steering wheel. Using anything else is clearly in violation of the spirit and intent of Rule 2.

Hehe, people are voting for me because I dissed "Ye respected PL" (who seems unable to read through discussions before attempting to contribute over a month into them, and for some reason thinks that a 1-1-1 system doesn't cut off after 3rd place) and "Ye ignorance complainer LN2"...
