And in the last five weeks, I have given out $325 of my own money in rewards for submissions to MARP, with $600 in bounties still pending for certain goals. What are you doing to encourage participation here that you would be so presumptious as to question my attitude??? Oh, boy. Five weeks. How im...

Well, people who think there is no reason to upload recordings to MARP other than the now-defunct leaderboard are also welcome to get lost. I never said it was the only reason. I said it was a reason. And, for some people, it was a primary reason and a large part of their experience at MARP. Those ...

there would be no reason for me to ever upload an INP and therefore ever visit this site again Adios. Yeah, that attitude will keep people around. I think over time that you'll find that the leaderboard was more important than most members of this board thought it was. As I've said before, m...

Hey, if you're going to keep quoting Airplane, at least get the quotes right!!!

It's "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue", etc.

Do you upload other than 1st place scores only because of leaderboard... Yes. So does just about everyone else, I'd argue. There are exceptions to that, but looking at the top 100, nearly everyone submits much more than just 1st place recordings. Why? Leaderboard points, obviously. Kill the leaderb...

I view the leaderboard as the players who have CONTRIBUTED the most to MARP. This doesn't mean the top listed ones are necessarily the best players, but that they have overall contributed more. ... To list the 10 first places above someone on the leaderboard with 9-50-50 is ridiculous . That system...

the YES vote will get votes of people that just don't care about the leaderboard and want to stop the discusion rather than really wanting a olympic style leaderboard.:) Very true. That being the case, I expect that "Yes" will win overwhelmingly. To many, it seems easier to just scrap the...

It's not tied anymore (15-13 as of now). Perhaps a cutoff date/time for the poll would be a good idea. Otherwise, it could go back and forth indefinitely. That was the result when the poll closed. Two people forgot to vote so it is now 15 all. Once you view the post for the first time it no longer ...

It's not tied anymore (15-13 as of now). Two people forgot to vote so it is now 15 all. Gaz Since when do people get to vote after a poll (ANY poll) closes? What if more people post now and vote for it? Are you going to count their votes? Sorry, but that's ludicrous and simply quite silly. Attempti...

http://forums.marpirc.net/viewtopic.php?t=11404 The poll is TIED , two people forgot to vote. Therefore the current system stands, NO cutoff. It's not tied anymore (15-13 as of now). Perhaps a cutoff date/time for the poll would be a good idea. Otherwise, it could go back and forth indefinitely.

I think 7th is a good cutoff.

There's really no point in stopping at 3rd, as the leaderboard already does that for one of the calculations.

Top 5 would probably be ok as well, but top 7 provides more room for submissions on popular games.

The super seven. :)

We were concerned about members submitting recordings solely for leaderboard points....with a system like boxster suggested we'd have people deleting recordings to try and make the cutoff....bizarre. How is this any different from what happens under the current system? MARPers are already deleting ...

I just double-checked it - it plays back ok for me, though I posted the wrong score - it's actually 30,900.

If no one can get it to run, I'll delete it and try it again without sound.
