a quick answer to that is that it'll make marps storage requirements larger, because the compression used (after zip) will be not as good as ziping a bare uncompressed inp. Since it's not as good, it's obviously not the same method (might be similar, though). You can probably zip up these "compress...

Much, much older than that.

I believe it started on SA, along with such other terms as "mantrain" and "clownboat".

...I may have brought them to #marp by way of a channel I no longer visit (#doom on irc.openprojects.net).

Re: Motion for a new MARP Special Event

I move that Phil Lamat's Week Challenge Championship become an official MARP Special Event, with all the rights and responsibilities that come with it. (i.e. it goes under an election and it gets the game prefix, w1, or whatever, along with it) I have to applaud Phil for this idea - it is working q...

yeah oses plenny, even with cli mame, some games don't playback using the same mame.exe on different operating systems. it doesn't make sense but it's the brutal truth. It makes a little sense when you realize that XP's core is different from 98's (ME is closer to 98, while XP is closer to 2000 and...

Generalize the scoring to 20 + (10*holes) - strokes.

That is all.

oh yeah forgot you can't have a negative losing score, thus +1 is ok for eliminating divide by zero! you sure you want that 200 in there. might as well make it 1000 to add more precision and make it easier on the calculator fingers 1000 * (RunsScored) * (RunsScored - RunsAllowed) / (LosingScore + 1...

Finally came up with a nice, SIMPLE one that meets the first four criteria I mentioned: Score = 100 + (20-losing team's score) * (your score - computer's score). The one notable breakdown occurs when both teams score more than 20 To eliminate the break down at 20 runs why not do this: combination o...

Aren't the other golf games scored 180-strokes?

If so, take a zero off your suggestion (make it 10*holes - strokes).

If anyone have a scoring system they think would be good for Baseball games, please hurry and let us know. I'll prepare the next poll soon, so hurry up :) So far we have 3 formulas in the vote. The one from Skito, Roncli and my own. Bye. Finally came up with a nice, SIMPLE one that meets the first ...

I disagree with points 3 and 5. IMHO, 1-0 should equal 2-1, should equal 3-2, etc. I also don't see why games that go into extra innings should be penalized. If it takes 24 innings to win a game, it's still a single win. Likewise, if someone wins 2-1 in 24 innings, it's still a one run game. But le...

yeah that one is pretty bad, i'd axe it and have only three choice unless there is a last minute scoring method to be presented, Frankie will make the final call. I think we should wait a few days. I've been thinking about my formula, how to go around that you can score more by loosing than by winn...

If the scoring system is going to suck that fiercly, I might just not submit any recordings. :) Seriously, though, this sytem has some serious flaws. You shouldn't get negative points for winning a game. Saying to "not submit a recording" because the scoring system isn't very friendly to a win is r...

Further, what about:

P 111 111 110 - 8
C 000 000 007 - 7

Score = 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + (-49) = -33
Mmmm... don't submit that recording?
