Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

Thanks for your reply LN2. Sorry if I didn't make it clear that I was never asking for 32+ splits for each different route, just one split per game for the hard difficult setting. I originally mentioned the B-E-I-N-T-Z route, as I thought this would be the most difficult (and the hardest route to ob...

Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

XESS - The New Revolution (SemiCom 3-in-1) Old Map ----- XESS - The New Revolution (SemiCom 3-in-1) New Map (Tracked) = = Puzzle Bobble 4 Normal Mode ----- Puzzle Bobble 4 Super Expert Mode (Not Tracked) ? Thanks for the example Gat - I was trying to find an example myself, but you seem to have fou...

Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

I don't like the idea for this anymore than for TG and guitar hero tracks tracking the score for each song at each difficulty. cmon...track only highest score for each song. Anyone scoring really high on hard or expert level is going to be able to match or max out easy or medium. little point to do...

Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

Thanks gat for stating your preferences. I actually agree with them, and feel if we can track both normal gameplay mode and hard gameplay mode in PB3, PB4, SPB and PNP then that will help resolve the issues I originally had. As for PB2 - well as it doesn't have a hard gameplay mode, I guess I can li...

Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

Thanks for the information Gat - wow 4 * Max drop point on the last level is an achievement! It's good to hear from an expert player. So Gat, do you think it is not good to split on the route selection (B-E-I-N-T-Z), but instead we need to either: A) Split on the games which have a hard/difficult ga...

Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

I don't know about any of the other Puzzle Bobble games but Puzzle Bobble 2X the most points productive route is not straight up the left hand side but all the way up the far right up to the 'Z' ending and on Puzzle Bobble 4 the best path for points I have found ends on the '?' ending. With regards...

Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

Kranser raises some good points, but one thing that has been not discussed is DEMAND. If only a couple of people want special rules for a specific hard course, then why bother? I agree that demand would play a factor if for example we were adding many splits, but for adding one extra split for hard...

Re: Taito G-net Emulation - important

For #1, yes I feel it would be the best way to go with the RF2 method. I ran several G-Net games and exited after the loading had completed, then I made the nvram files read-only, and ran the games again - and behold - no loading delay on startup! So, that seems to be a good method to use. For #2, t...

Re: New Olympic-Standings style leaderboard

good discussion, a 5 unconfirmed uploads rule would prevent people who are just "average" making great personal best recordings that are good but just don't get confirmed. We have to continue to give incentive to the casual gamer to improve their personal best. Fox Mulder is a great uploader but he...

Re: These game names are weird!!!

not that anyone would know he answer but was it that 36^8 (3 trillion) possible names weren't enough to represent all arcade games in an 8 character form? Of course 3 trillion names would be enough - but some of the names wouldn't be very readable now would they! ;-) I like the change and feel that...

Thanks Haze for the pictures of spuzbobl 2-player and flipmaze! Very nice pics!

I don't know if anyone has asked yet - but how fast does spuzbobl run? Would it be possible to reach 99-100% on some systems?

Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

Thanks Haze - can you make any screenshots showing the 2-player puzzle mode, where two players can work together to clear the puzzle screen? [this mode is unique as it is not in any previous puzzle bobble games - however, as it is 2-player it is not suitable for MARP :(]

Thanks in advance,
Kranser.

Re: Please reconsider splits on puzzle bobble-style games

Super Puzzle Bobble has still puzzle and vs mode, but another debate to come : http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/misc/spuzbobl/0013.png And also this: http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/misc/spuzbobl/0035.png! http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/misc/spuzbobl/0036.png shows the normal route selection, but http://...

Re: These game names are weird!!!

Nope not a screw up - as of one of the updates in the 0.130 cycle, clones are allowed to have longer than8 character names. This allows the clone to have the same name as the parent (without skipping letters) and to add an extra letter to that name to identify the clone set. The parent set must stil...
