Qbert Rules

I like the idea that if there are multiple rom sets that play identical (or almost identical) and there are multiple possible rule settings (such as marathon vs 5 men or MAME defaults vs TG settings), then one ROM set could be played under each rule. It at least serves to differentiate the clone in ...

Jungle Hunt MAME settings

Chad, In MAME the monkeys don't move up and down on the vines after you jump onto the same vine as them on EITHER TG settings or MAME defaults, in either Jungle Hunt (jungleh) or Jungle King (junglek). Unless one of the "Unknown" dip switches controls this, I don't think the actual arcade ...

Jungle Hunt Regulation Play

I'm fairly sure the TG settings play the same as the original arcade factory settings for Jungle Hunt/King did. I played this game in the arcade to pretty high scores (400K+). The monkey (Jungle King) or gorilla (Jungle Hunt), does move up and down on the vine, but not once you are on the same vine ...

Discouraging last minute submissions

Another approach to try and discourage last minute submissions is to have a random element in the cutoff time. The idea would be to have a random cutoff time somewhere between, for example, the 5th and 8th day. It isn't practical to hold onto INPs for long, since you risk getting cutoff without noti...

i think you guys answered my question as YES even though you said no. when i meant both players scored the same olympic score i meant they did exactally the same things, the player playing with out the nvram actually placed the pole in the right position or did the exact same moves to get the mole ...

Mole points

that's a good question. I have a question too, there are two recordings. Player 1 plays for moles with an nvram gets a certain score X, and Player 2 not playing for moles with out an nvram (BUT gets the same olympic scores as Player 1) gets a score X-k. If player 2's recording is adjusted time wise...

NVRAM and Hypersports

I understand that the moles are an important part of the game, and it isn't just a matter of "making scores higher". Its important to realize that depending on how "well" you play getting moles, it effects how much higher you score. Its not like all scores that get 400K without N...

Congo Bongo Difficulty Settings

The difficulty setting definitely affects the number of jumps you have to make to get the monkeys off your back on the first phase. It is Easy = 2 Jumps, Medium = 3 Jumps, Hard = 4 Jumps and Hardest = 5 Jumps. I don't know what else the difficulty setting affects.

Congo Bongo TGTS

DBH, you mention that TGTS are more difficult than MAME defaults. MAME seems to default to Medium according to the Dip Switches, which is the same listed difficulty given in the TG writeup on Jason's world record, and is the same difficulty listed on Mark Longridge's TG MAME site. I'm sure if Jason ...

Maximizing Points per stage

Jason's score for each stage is really impressive. 33600 for the first stage alone! The top MARP score and my few games typically score only 20k for the first. Does anybody know what technique he is using to rack up so many points per stage? My only thought was that he was leeching (or whatever you...
