some of the cps1 games such as magic sword require the hardware to ignore the tilecode which happens to contain the 0 on gigawing, cps2 probably doesn't, or theres a register controlling it.

I'd assume it'd be as consistant as anything else, afaik something in the 68k code causes it to corrupt the counter, therefore if that code is triggered when recording I assume it would be triggered when playing back.

yes it happens sometimes (corrupting the lives counter).. probably protection, it happens most on that clone. maybe just ban recordings where it happens (annoying I know, especially if it were to happen near the end ..) I haven't been able to fix it, and personally I think I give up trying, anyone e...

About Oriental Legend

Oriental Legend / Xi Yo Gi Shi Re Zuang (ver. 112, Chinese Board) there is a comment about the lives problem with the replay. I'm aware of the problem, the game seems to corrupt the lives counter at times, (sometimes it happens a lot, sometimes not much at all) I suspect its some form of protection ...

I should add it up to the person who writes the driver to decided (to an extent) if to use the flag or not, I could have flagged s1945ii as 'Not Working' because one of the bosses doens't work correctly, however the rest of it is fine so I didn't, some people might have done.

some games have problems which won't affect the recordings at MARP one bit. Eg the Afega shooters are marked as Non-working since if you leave them to go into their attract mode you can't play them, however if you coin up and start a game before the attract mode they work fine and can be completed. ...

the 'tournaments' are good to see

while I can't compete in them because quite honestly I suck at the majority of the games the 'tournaments' / challenges you do like the WCC recently are rather interesting to watch ... testing the players abilities here to the maximum etc. There are some games on MARP which don't have that many repl...

you'll probably also want to strictly enforce crc's so the wrong roms can't be used, otherwise I imagine it might be possible for someone to hack some roms to aid play, eg hack a quiz game to always highlight the right answer, of course it could still be done if the roms were hacked so the crc was i...

ok, well it was just a warning since the tolerance level was 0 for mame32, personally in this case the reasoning seems understandable, heck if asked Nicola might even permit it, there are more serious license violations to deal with anyway such as builds removing the legal screens, enabling disabled...

since you *have* to provide the source under the terms of the Mame License agreement I don't really see what stops somebody from hacking it anyway since your encryption / decryption code has to be open source ...

it would be up to the arcade operator to decide which games were enabled tho .. so if you walked into an arcade with that game running it could easily be running the games which are disabled by default.

it could be mentioned how to get to the games in 'special rules' or something like that ..

btw usg83 also has Draw Poker U.S.BlackJack U.S.Craps Sexual Triv I they can be enabled in the test mode, they're disabled by default Sexual Triv II is also listed but can't be enabled (probably uses different roms) I know there are enough of these crappy games anyway but unless theres some rule abo...

and I suggest kickgoal be split into 2 since there are 2 play modes, one is more like an 'indoor' game, with walls the ball bounces off, the other doesn't have the walls so you can kick the ball out for goal kicks / throw-ins etc. open and enclosed maybe? .. not sure someone else can choose the word...

you might be able to complete it if you use a debug compile and run with -debug .. but maybe the recording wouldn't work at all then .. never tried that :-p

thats why the bug is sadly impossible to trace... it refuses to lock up if you run the game with the debugger ..

wcc, the meaning.

funny you should point this out on the main page now, for a few weeks I thought it meant 'What Complete Crap' seemed appropriate next to Legend of Success Joe :-p

(yes I know this is stupid and barely on topic :-p)
