Ok, perhaps Circus Charlie wasn't the best example because that does require skill and lots of play to be able to max it out. I was thinking though perhaps there should be some tiebreaker criteria then. Perhaps something like the number of deaths before reaching the max score. If still tied then the...

Joysticks? Ahh you guys are whimps! hehe Real men use the keyboard and mouse. :P Man I really wonder how much better I would play some games if I had one of those arcade joysticks like the x-arcade. The main reason I haven't gotten one is beacuse they all are 8-way joysticks and for most of the game...

Perhaps this is a separate subject so deserves it's own thread, but what about moving games to the archive where there are like 5+ people "tied" for first place with the max score possible? Games like Circus Charlie at 999,990 and a Lode Runner or 2 that have a "high score" of &q...

I remember playing Phoenix and exploiting that "bug" as well. However I remember a slightly different one. :P It wouldn't reset your score to around 200k each time but always add. Unfortunately I can not remember the exact details of how I did it. hehe I will have to try it in MAME to see ...

qbertjp is much more difficult than regular q*bert. I think until someone gets at least like 2-3 million on the game turning it into several hours of play there is no reason to restrict this as 5 men only. I submitted a couple weekends ago a new top score for qbertjp of 510,635(please verify it. :P ...

The only Mac emulators for PC I know of are 68k CPU based. Those wouldn't be able to run any recent version of MacMAME which is for PowerPC CPUs. Mention of MARP likely has never made any mac gaming web site news etc. for the Mac community to find it. The only way I actually found this is through th...

Well 5 of the last 5 games I have tested have all failed to totally playback a MacMAME recorded inp correctly...so I guess there are more than a few games with this issue. This weekend I tested punchout, berzerk, the various mspacman games, mario brothers, jrpacman and a couple others. The inp itsel...

I am puzzled why many keep referring to MacMAME as a 68000 CPU core code. Is the 68k code you are referring to the assembly for the emulated game CPU itself or the Mac CPU? Mac CPUs are RISC now since the PowerPC. I can vaguely remember playing macmame 0.29 on my 68k mac though. It could play the pa...

Punchout inp playback
I have had various issues trying to play back even inps I record with punchout. I play in MacMAME 0.60 and the inp can playback just fine. I am trying to get it to also playback correctly in mame60 in VPC but having issues where as I change the setup even it varies how the playback goes. I did a sea...

Maybe a good suggestion: if you can stand recording with out sound, try recording with out sound on the mac and then see if it plays back ok with out sound on a windos machine. Yeah I have not tried that for yet. I might try that for a couple games and see if any difference. I don't see how sound o...

I have tried normal speed ms. pac but still have control issues even at that speed. I am amazed at how some of you can control so well with the keys. I think I do ok with other games but then try something like the mspac-fast or any other "fast" pacman and have such control problems it's a...

thx roncli. :D I am working on qbertjp now. Man that game I think might be tougher than FHMC-Q*bert. hehe nah...I just have to play it a few more times to get used to when the green dudes come out in q*bert(japan). Glad to see those verified so quickly. I am not sure what will happen on games that c...

I guess the problem if essentially many game ROM set formats would need to be changed or something to allow this type of "plugin". That would be a huge task to redo hundreds of ROM sets to add that kind of support. What if the NVRAM file is actually included? I will have to test making an ...

My guess would be that some other Mac user would view the inp and certainly report it if it wasn't viewable or not correct versus what was reported. I have VirtualPC on my Mac and can test inp playback on mame60 in VPC. Playback of a couple mame60 inps from here to test it work fine, but don't playb...

yeah
Yeah I always check the playback in MacMAME directly. Some game inps work just fine in dos MAME and win mame32. It's odd how they aren't consistent. I did a search for macmame and it seems the random function is slightly different for different platforms so if the game(like ms pac) has some random s...
