Damn, I didn't know this, I'm a bit sorry. I was preparing the post to upload later and I discovered it while searching for info.
Spartan X is clone of Kung Fu Master, that has been played on T12, hence I can't accept that.
The reason why I'm sorry is that time for voting is basically running out. Should you miracolously read the reply before time runs out definitely, you know you can replace the nomination with another game.

Cicca voted already for Tempest so this vote is wasted.

Guys, be careful when you vote :( on my side, I should think of a more effective method to check things, for next time.

Time for voting has finished!
We're now getting in the phase of games discussion. If you think a game should be moved to another genre, a genre should be split or two genres should be reunited, or a game should be deleted from the possible choices, leave a reply in the thread explaining your good reasons. Main examples of valid reasons could be "the recordings of this game have big playbackability issues" or "emulation of this game may be really slow for most of computers", and so on.
If all seems to fit well for you, then you don't have to do anything, just wait for the tournament beginning :)

Genres listed in order of appearance, ROMsets listed in the group by alphabetical order. On the left of a row, the ROMset name is displayed.

Group 1 - Driving
1) raveracj - Rave Racer (Rev. RV1 Ver.B, Japan) [currently removed for possible slow emulation speed]
> requested mode: Time Trial
2) ridgera2 - Ridge Racer 2 (Rev. RRS2, World) [currently removed for possible slow emulation speed]
> requested mode: Time Trial
3) shangon - Super Hang-On (sitdown/upright) (unprotected)
> requested mode: Junior course

Group 2 - Platform
1) bublcave - Bubble Bobble: Lost Cave V1.2
2) elvactr - Elevator Action Returns (Ver 2.2O 1995/02/20)
3) joust2 - Joust 2 - Survival of the Fittest (revision 2)
4) moomesa - Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa (ver EAB)
5) ssridersjad - Sunset Riders (4 Players ver JAD)
6) wboy2 - Wonder Boy (set 2, 315-5178)

Group 3 - Figther (2D, 2.5D, 3D)
1) kuniokunb - Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun (Japan bootleg)
2) vendettaz - Vendetta (Asia, 4 Players, ver. Z)

Group 4 - Sports
1) pspikes2 - Power Spikes II (NGM-068)

Group 5 - Maze
1) bombrman - Bomber Man (Japan)
2) lrescue - Lunar Rescue
3) mustache - Mustache Boy
4) paperboy - Paperboy (rev 3)
5) xybots - Xybots (rev 2)

Group 6 - Shooter
1) carnival - Carnival (upright)
2) magmax - Mag Max
3) makyosen - Makyou Senshi (Japan)
4) phoenixa - Phoenix (Centuri, set 1)
5) sexyparo - Sexy Parodius (ver JAA)
6) tempest - Tempest (rev 3, Revised Hardware)

Group 7 - Puzzle
1) sqix - Super Qix (World, Rev 2)

Group 8 - Multiple mini games
1) bcstry - B.C. Story (set 1)

Other notes:
Dax expressed a generic "Sexy Parodius" nomination, while there are two versions of it. I took the parent (JAA). No big difference, I guess.
Same goes for Phoenix, there is Centuri set 1 and Centuri set 2, I took set 1.
Same goes for Joust 2, there are two revisions, I took the parent (rev 2).
Despite being nominated twice, as it usually goes and as reminded in rules post of main thread, Tempest will have one chance like any other game to be picked.

Dates reminder:
September 17 - extraction of games
September 18 - tournament starts

I haven't tried but I'm kind of worried about Ridge Racer 2 and Rave Racer. I didn't even know they were playable in MAME, so are they? And does it take a super duper gaming computer to run those things at an ok framerate?

I will test them tonight. I have a fear too, they may run slow. I consider my notebook (7+ years old) almost a threshold meter of performances, like, "if I can run it, almost everybody else should"; I also know there's worst than mine around the community, in terms of performances...

As predicted... Rave Racer, with GDI, sound disabled, frameskip 10, still makes an average emulation speed of ~80% to me.
Will check also Ridge Racer 2, as well as I'll try older versions of MAME, but I believe we can guess how it will go, for both since it's same device.

Ridge Racer 2 went slightly better, but still ~89% average speed. With gdi, max frameskip, sound disabled (even with -samplerate 11025), etc. - I tried all things I know, even deactivating antivirus.

I am confident they don't have much trouble being played in newest computers at good speed and framerate, otherwise they wouldn't have been nominated, though these two games surely may run slow for someone. Not that I like to do it, but as for things are going now, I'm shortening the already short list of nominations by removing those 2. :? sorry about that.

Alright, some news.
First of all, a reminder that tournament is starting in less than 10 days.
Here's a countdown, which can be also found in my signature. [Click here for countdown]
(don't matter about having set Venice as location, I had to put a casual location, it is more important that the time is correct)

Secondly, to avoid any surprise, I have tested all the games left, to check the emulation speed, and informed myself about any sort of other problems that may occur.

Here's what I found:
-Elevator Action Returns can be finished with counterstop (999,900 pts), not even in long times as you have a strict timer for each stage. So, we won't play it for score but as a Time Attack. Your progression in stages cleared, and time spent, will be elaborated in a score. (instructions will be given when tournament starts if game is played)
-B.C. Story has a maximum score of 30. Hell, heck, I can't even finish one stage and I don't understand if I'm a weakling or if the speed was emulated slower in older MAME versions (says MAMEINFO.DAT: "0.111u4: Changed Z80 CPU2 clock speed to 3750000 Hz."), BUT, anyway, there is a maximum score and it has been reached three times already in MARP. I believe we have to remove this game from choices.
-As you may know, Bubble Bobble can be played infinitely, so for Bubble Bobble: Lost Cave V1.2 we will count the score achieved after one loop only. If you want to reach higher scores for MARP rankings, free to do so, but our goal for tournament will be best performance for one loop.
-Since the game mode hasn't been declared for this title, I opted for Bomber Man (Japan) will be played in Normal Mode (since VS score is time-based, more fit for a time trial).
-Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest lets you decide the starting wave and awards you bonus points if you start at a later wave. To avoid the counter-productive consequence of having several scores of slightly more than 350,000 pts, coming from less skilled players starting all at Wave 26, this game must be started at Wave 1 for this tournament.
-Same goes for Tempest, we will start from Level 1.
-Sexy Parodius is running almost slow in here, I may allow for a previous version of WolfMAME. Still, it is something playable at a regular speed.

SO
If there is agreement on all of the points above, here's the resume of the list as it should be now.

Group 1 - Driving
1) shangon - Super Hang-On (sitdown/upright) (unprotected)
> Condition: Junior course

Group 2 - Platform

4) phoenixa - Phoenix (Centuri, set 1)

6) tempest - Tempest (rev 3, Revised Hardware)
> Condition: Start at Level 1

Group 7 - Puzzle
1) sqix - Super Qix (World, Rev 2)

Removed titles:
raveracj - Rave Racer (Rev. RV1 Ver.B, Japan) [currently removed for possible slow emulation speed]
> requested mode: Time Trial
ridgera2 - Ridge Racer 2 (Rev. RRS2, World) [currently removed for possible slow emulation speed]
> requested mode: Time Trial
bcstry - B.C. Story (set 1) [currently removed for score limit]

Let me know if you are ok with the decisions, still plenty of time to discuss over things.

Also, I made Ranking spreadsheet :) until the start, there is a sample (and I underline: SAMPLE) ranking, to show you that formulae work, and give an idea of the layout.
The sample will be removed when we start with real games.

Good luck everyone. I was game for this, but now my work schedule has been RADICALLY altered, and I work at 6am now for 8 hrs, then a 2hr break and then at another store for 3 more hrs. By the time I get home at either time, I am too exhausted, and my weekends are now packed with family stuff and much needed sleep. Hopefully next time!
