This one appears to lose sync not long after the first boss, ending with a score of 278,300 using Win32 CLI MAME. Anyone who can use DOS MAME have better luck?

No, it does look like it loses sync. Either that, or Ray got very sloppy with his last life.

I have no idea what happened. When I played it, it went to 296k, but when played back it only makes it to 278k. There is no nvram, cfg, or hi issues. I remove them automatically.

yeah this does happen, sometimes for no reason what so ever (gamma rays?) kinda the reason it's good to playback your recordings before submiting them...
