Hyper Olympic - Long Jump oddities

Since I play this game with MAME I never ever managed to jump 9m72 but only (and many many times) 9m67. I'm now starting to think that this cannot always be due to my ineptitude. For the record, I always play the Hyper Olympic version of the game (romname: hyprolym) because that was the name of the game in the arcades where I would go (I'm Italian) and where I did manage to jump 9m72.
<p>
In his amazing top score game (95930 pts), Tommi Tiihonen's efforts in this event were:
<p>
1st jump: 9m18 (1385 cm/sec + 43°)
2nd jump: 9m72 (1397 cm/sec + 42°)
Note that his speed was 1367 cm/sec: when he took off the board he got additional 30 cm/sec.
<p>
In a game I did (not the one which is in 2nd position on this site) and of which I have an .inp file (in case someone wants to see it), my efforts were:
<p>
1st jump: 9m18 (1405 cm/sec + 43°)
2nd jump: 9m67 (1425 cm/sec + 42°)
Note that I too got plus 30 cm/sec when I took off the board, meaning that Tommi's jump and mine were identical in the first part, only I was faster. How is then possible that my jump was inferior? Is the difference due to the fact that he played Track & Field while I played Hyper Olympic (this seems absurd to me, anyway)?!?
