What is the scoring system in Golden axe?

Post by QRS »

I wonder what is the correct way of score to use in Golden axe?

I finished the game (died once) I got a score of 219 but also a strenght score of 139.5 wich is the correct one?

I also wonder how this strenght score is affected if you die, using magic etc. Is it possible that my strenght score could have been 239.5 if I had finished the game without dying?

Regards

I believe the marp scores are on the default score (219) not
strength, don't know how strength relates to deaths/life value left.

SCORE equal total count of f(a,b,c)=(1+0.5a)*b*c
a=stage number.(1-5)
b=what kind of enemy which you kills.
small enemy's b=1,big enemy's b=2, last boss's b=8.
c=how you kill the enemy.
if you remove all enemies life,c=1.
drop from the screen,c=2.
kill and drop,c=3.
finished Hensachi is (SCORE/(DIED+1))+30
219/(1+1)+30=139.5
if you finsished without dying,your hensachi will be 219+30=249.
sorry poor language.

sorry.
To resume what was said (tell me if something is wrong):

SCORE = total of axbxc/2

a=value depending on the stage where you kill the enemy=int((s+1)/2)+1
* stage 1-2 : a=1
* stage 3-4 : a=2
* stage 5-6 : a=3
* stage 7-8 : a=4
* stage 9 : a=5

b=kind of enemy you kill
* small enemy : b=1
* big enemy : b=2
* last boss : b=8

c=how you kill the enemy
* if you remove all enemies life : c=1
* drop from the screen : c=2
* kill and drop : c=3

STRENGTH = 30+score/(d+1) [where d=0 or 1 if you die]

Examples
* strength = 30+219=249 if you finished without dying
* strength = 30+219/(1+1)=139.5 if you died

Now we have to choose clearly what counts for marp : score or strength
? I think strength is better, but then how we're going to treat scores
ending by .5 ? with a multiplying coeff. ? and which one ?

I don´t know too, but I´ve tried with all kind of skills to beat MGM
on Golden Axe. I´ve finished without be touched, but the points are
always behind from him. We need a new recording of a new challenger
to understand better.

a=s+1,phil.
your equation does not make any difference between stage 1 and 2.
the definition of b and c are perfect.
SCORE = INT(total of abc/2) is right.
if you compere your skill,strength(HENSACHI on my board)is
suitable.
but if .5 is problem,should get score of natural numer.
set d=0.
in other word....

NO MISS ALL CLEAR!!!

If we're going to deal with fractional points, why not do what they
were doing with Captain Tomaday - multiply by 100 and round?

and now,zfz's play accounts for everything.
drop makes twice,kill and drops makes triple.

very cool.
"quality over quantity." is fantastic.
