MARP Time Trials... question 2

Post by gameboy9 »

I'm wondering if you want to make this a series of time trials, or one time competition, one winner, then we start MARP Time Trials 2.

If we're making this a series, here's some ideas, with some derevations from a racing championship:

1. We'd have eight or nine competitions over the year. Each competition would start at the 1st of a particular month, and would last 10, 15, or 20 days (depending on how long it would take to finish a game)
2. Instead of winner choosing the next game, eight or nine people would decide what games (and parameters) would be set, so it'd be like we'd have eight or nine competitons at eight or nine different "locations".
3. We'll award points and all of that stuff.

Again, more technical rules later if you support this thought.

The first competition, a test round to see who's really interested, so it won't count toward any series (or we'll have a "one-game series" just to see how it would work, then we can fix it if neccessary), will begin on January 3rd. (So everyone can enjoy the new year and such)

Why not make 8contest in the 8 great categories of games. The first game by randon (or by vote) in one of the categories. And the winner choose in one of the categories who remain.
Exemple :
Categories are Racing / Plate-form / Shooting / Sports / Fighting / Puzzle / Other 1 / Other 2
First contest : Wonder Boy (by random ^^) a Plate-form game
2nd contest : Darius (Shooting) choice in all categories except Plat-forme
3rd contest : Puzzle Bubble (Puzzle) choice in all categories except Plat-forme and shooting.
And so on until 8 categories are played (8 is an exemple, it can be 7 or 9 categories).

I think I've figured out what we're going to do if we like the series concept:

1a. Winner chooses the next game.
1b. If there is a tie, (gosh forbid) the next chooser is chosen randomly.
2. If the winner has already chosen a game in the current season, then anybody else who won and hasn't picked, starting with the latest game, gets to pick the next game. If there is no picker, then we go to the 2nd placers, then the 3rd, and so forth.
3. No more than two games allowed of the same type in a season.
4. Obviously, you can't repeat games or their clones at all. :)

How about that? It rewards you for doing well, especially in later stages of the season. Keeps the variety of games up as well.

Hmmm, here's a thought. To encourage prompt submission of scores instead of waiting until the last few hours how about if a tie the person who had submitted their replay first gets to choose the next game?

Good point. Let's do it that way.
