60 second challenge: Pacman (well, Puckman I guess)

Post by gameboy9 »

Yip, the first challenge for score based on a time limit has gotta be the classic... Pacman. Well, I guess we have to play the original, Puckman.

Starcade rules... you have 60 seconds to get as many points as possible. Blitzkreig is definatly what you're going for here. My first score is 6,270 points... but definatly some improvement can be made here. Think about it... I lost a life! GRRRRR!

This game has 61 FPS, so you'll get 3,660 frames to do your thing. The clock will start when you gain control of the character, as always.

Not quite - it's 60.606060fps. So 3,639 frames is probably closer. :)

Ah, I think 60.60606 * 60 = 3,636 frames, rounded.
Nevertheless, thanks for telling me of the .60606. I guess there's something in WOLFMAMEPLUS which would tell me that somewhere...

I think the last score by me is still 10,940, since I was trying to chase a ghost down when the buzzer sounded... but I'll check when I get off work.

MAME says the correct framerate on the game info screen on startup, the OSD (F11) always rounds it to the nearest integer.
