I'll try it in the win32 version via Wine a bit later, and let you know how it does. If it occurs on the win32 version and not SDL, then there is something seriously weird happening.

Update: Using fast forward causes no issues in the win32 version, either.

Here Beejay's inp playbacks fine normally or with full throttle F10, but not with any frameskip.
Colman Paolo's first inp playbacks fine only at normal speed.
It's a delicate thing, but finally it does not seem really severe.

same happens with my inp, F10 doesn't seem to cause any desync, while F8/F9 quickly do desynch

game finished in little less than 46000 frames

Watched yours, plays back fine for me, even with fiddling with frameskip.

So what happens if we don't finish it? Is there any progress scoring like the last round (completing stages). Too bad it's not like the Atari 2600 version of Pitfall II...I can complete that one perfectly

Still room for improvement, I died on the acorns stage (again), mucked up three times in the caverns, and died just before the final room, all costing me valuable frames.

(Completed) 41.361 frames [11min 29sec]

Cheers,
BeeJay.

@CrazyKongFan: Every round of this TimeTrial 2013 tournament will have the same kind of scoreboard.
Any "final requirement" should be read as "no need to go further". In this game there are no multiple loops, but in the last turn there were, for example. If there is a long game, the final requirement could be complete 5 stages out of 15, and so on.

In this turn if you don't complete the game, you'll be in the scoreboard anyway with the time of the highest completed stage. Think of them just like checkpoints. In this game you have only 3 checkpoints: the keys.

About desync when playback at full speed, this seems to happen mostly (if not only) in real-random schemes (trees with benefits and volcanoes).
By the way mahlemiut, what is that message "nn partial updates" under framecount when pressing F11? Is it involved in this issue?

Scoreboard updated below and in the second post. I've seen MANY nice things !!!
Essekappa discovered a new path in mines that makes you reach the diamond few seconds before, moreover he managed to catch that damned mine car i told in the first post! 8O
And Beejay managed to descend under 11' 30" =D>
In my speculations the best time without the new path and the mine car trick would have been around 11' 22", this new thing makes me hope to see soon a time under 11'.

A little thing: why do you descend stairs? According to my measures, falling down is faster, even in short stairs.
Whith a little uncertainity due to the fact that grabbing a stair makes you save a couple of steps, falling down a short stair takes 45 frames, while descending takes 64 frames. Falling down a long stair takes 79 frames, descending it takes 126 frames.
Maybe short stairs (counting the two steps saved) do not make that difference, but long stairs yes. Moreover, falling down cuts 5 seconds from your timer: at the end of the stage you'll have less time to convert to score, it takes about 2 frames for any second of remaining time. Excluding last stage, because I don't count the last time-to-score bonus conversion.

Anyway, here it is the actual standings:
1 - (Stage4) 41.362 frames [11min 29sec] - Beejay - download - Ok - 25 pts
2 - (Stage4) 45.681 frames [12min 41sec] - Franco Benedetti - download - Ok - 20 pts
3 - (Stage2) 31.632 frames [08min 47sec] - Colman Paolo - download - Ok - 16 pts
4 - (Stage1) 13.762 frames [03min 49sec] - Krj - download - Ok - 13 pts

Please in the future use the 'Upload attachment' tool of the forum, so that future attachments will remain into this database. Franco Benedetti had a problem in the last turn because of the maximum size allowed so he linked it from outside, but if possible it's better to upload inps here.

I was just discussing that very tactic with my wife and kids last night, and was going to try that technique tomorrow night (NZT). Unfortunately tonight we'll be doing the usual 5th November fireworks so I won't have a chance to give this technique a crack tonight. :(

Cheers,
BeeJay.

Partial updates simply mean that the driver is rendering parts of the screen at a time. This allows for changes made to the video registers to affect the video output part way through the render process.
