TimeTrial 2015 - Round 3 [aurail]

Post by giro-X »

Image
Round 3 of 5
Aurail (set 3, US, unprotected)
by SEGA, 1990
ROMsets needed: aurail
Genre: Shooter / Driving Vertical

GOAL: Complete first 6 Rounds.
Initial project was to set 8 Rounds but we're quite a few participants, there's no need to complicate things so I've made the goal easier :)

Parameter to count for tournament score: Total number of frames.
The first frame is always determined by the first frame in which you see the Player's score appear, like in the screenshot below.

Image

The final frame is determined by the exact moment in which you see the first frame with the text ROUND "7 PLAYER ONE START". With the same criterium, if you successfully clear only 4 rounds, for example, last frame considered will be the first showing "ROUND 5 PLAYER ONE START".
When you submit your recording, you are not obliged to give a precise count of frames - that's my job :D I will have to do it anyway. You can give an approximate total. To view the frame count in MAME, press F11.

GENERAL RULES FOR ALL GAMES
MAME version to use: WolfMAME 0.156
You can submit either to the forums or MARP. On MARP, you must include the text TT2015 in description. Score for submission must be your real in-game score, the total frames can be told in the description
No recording can be uploaded 24 hours after you recorded it. INPs older than that will be disqualified

Here's at least a token submission...will try to play a little more in the next few days. Start 366, end 6524, cleared round 2.

@ Paulo Valmir: You have uploaded the score too late! (54 minutes after deadline)
And here I prevent any try to justify the score.
I won't even look at it (no ok, I will - but not now) because it can't affect the scoreboard now. Scores have to be recorded and uploaded before the given time. I may have not specified "and uploaded" in the rules, perhaps because, you know, this has always been the logic behind every tournament in MARP; but if we have to be so meticolous, I always stated that questions were welcome in any case of doubt or need of clarification
giro-X wrote:let me know if you would like to discuss about some specific details of the rules.

and in that case I would have stated what is obvious since ever and I have cut for not giving you all as usual big walls of text.
Plus, for two rounds I have even published a message at the end of the "week" in the forums, and every Round thread has a link to a countdown showing days, hours, minutes, seconds, left to upload. I just once, on round 2, wrote the wrong "day" on the countdown date page, fixed as soon as we realized it (and alerted people in the forums of that), but the "day" not the "hour-min-sec" was wrong - in any case, on forum it is stated the correct day as well as it is declared in the Rules post on introduction thread.

IF NOT ENOUGH in the Round 4 thread the post I have written at 0:03 GMT that is, 3 minutes after deadline, and 51 minutes before your submission, I have said:
giro-X wrote:Obviously time is up for uploading scores for Aurail - I have to check last score(s) and then update the Scoreboard.

"for uploading scores".
mahlemiut, as a forum administrator, can verify that I have never edited this quoted post.

So, I'm sorry. Maybe everything could be resumed in "you were wrong about deadline by one hour", that happens, but I'd like to prevent any failing try to justify the time.
Kind of useless to say but uploading the good scores when they come out, instead of waiting, may help you to achieve a position, good or bad, rather than achieving none. And we don't talk about sportmanship either, don't be surprised if I say I was waiting for a last-minute score to happen.
