Twinkle Star Sprites endings

Post by mahlemiut »

I have decided to start making inps showing each characters' endings in TSS. I don't know why, I just felt like doing it. :?

Anyway, I have seven of the thirteen characters done (eight if you count my Character Mode upload on MARP).

Anyway, here's what I have so far:

http://mahlemiut.marpirc.net/loadran-finish.zip
http://mahlemiut.marpirc.net/macky-finish.zip (especially for Kaidi)

Oh yeah, and check out the new sig. :D

i think these inps are really cool. i just wish there was some way to have marp handle archival of "misc" inps like this easily. I.e. not the tips and eggs page, something automated, like you want to show all the endings or you want to show a trick or something, or demonstrate a yet unknown cheat, etc.

perhaps there should be a place in marp where you can submit multiple recordings for each game and denote their significance some way. Unfortunately, It sounds like something that would be a mess to quality control ("are the inps good? and what they really say they are? or is someone just alphabetically uploading for no reason?")

what version were these inps recorded with anyway? I'm assuming 0.58, but with both DOS and MAME32 they always break in the same spots... the Realy Till one loses sync on Schmitt, the Macky & Pentell one screws up on Hungry Bitch...

on a related note, I was once considering making inps finishing all 9 possible routes on Shock Troopers on Level-8 difficulty. Didn't know if anyone would care though, especially when I could be using that time to focus on getting higher scores on Jungle-Valley instead.

All were recorded with the Win32 console version for MAME 0.58. No CFG, no NVRAM, no HI.

Must actually attempt to play these back sometime, I guess, like I would if I were uploading them to MARP. ;)

Update!

Post by mahlemiut »

After quite a few tries, I managed to finish with Yan Yanyung. Not exactly easy seeing as she's the slowest damn character there is.

Anyway, here it is: http://mahlemiut.marpirc.net/yan-finish.zip

Finished with two lives spare, 29-hit max combo, and 3 strings of consecutive perfects (up to at least 12). Final score: 1.91M

And another :D

That's it for the regular characters. Just the boss characters to go (except for Memory, that one you can get from MARP).

Finished with Mevious. Recorded with XMAME 0.58.2 (just what I happened to be using when the urge to play came over me ;))

ALL CLEAR NO MISS! 1.83M, Max combo = 60. :D

Finished with Dark Ran, 1.75M, 1 life spare, Max hit 26. Not my best, but it's a finish at least. ;)

One word: Pathetic.

But it's a finish. Maybe I'll improve this one later.
