Reward: $50 (usd)
Deadline for submission to MARP: April 15, 2005 2359 hours GMT
Further Bounty: none
Not really my type of game, but I had some fun playing it.
Tried Beastie Feastie at the last minute and it seemed easier to play, but we'll stick with this version for our competition.
Use WolfMAME .95

I see info on his page that WR on The Glob is made by Donald Hayes.

Also, I have not thought that it would be fair for me to notify any individual player personally about a challenge I thought might interest them, but anyone else is certainly welcome to notify anyone they wish.QRS wrote:Maybe Mark A will show up now?
And this gives me an idea I should have had a long time ago. For the benefit of those who might be interested but don't follow the forums closely, I will start a mailing list to which I will send the announcement each week.
I will make a sticky post in this forum shortly announcing this and telling how to get on the list.
I can also use the text version of the announcement to post to alt.games.mame, which I've been meaning to get around to anyway.

Something weird happened to these games in between MAME .37b4 and now.destructor wrote:Wrong scores for theglob on MARP scoreboard:

The layout of the food on level 2 in theglob, theglob2 and theglob3 was the same as in theglobp in MAME .37b4.
Now the food in level 2 is in a different pattern on theglob, theglob2, and theglob3. It's still the same in theglobp.
Anyway, for this competition you'll be playing theglob in WolfMAME .95. That way we'll all be playing the same game.

Donald Hayes and a 14 point lead take Thursday's bonus points.

Thanks for the gentle prodding, everyone, but, mostly because of tax time, I will abdicate my crown of Globmaster... for the moment ! Of course, it doesn't hurt that DBH has taken over - if I'm abdicating, I'll feel better about Don taking over, versus most anyone else !
OK, excuses, excuses ! Actually, there are even more issues than just taxes. Like, my gaming machine's mobo (motherboard for newbies) gave out a few weeks ago, and I still haven't replaced it. Also, since others are point-pressing (which is OK by me, mind you), and I normally don't do it on the early boards, this means that the game is even more annoying than normal. Don't get me wrong - I love Glob. But, the only decent version (besides Beastie Feastie) is theglobp, since it fixes the annoying sounds and bad, bad monster movement / AI of the other versions (apparently Epos fired the original programmer, and got someone intelligent on board for the version mentioned above).
Well, I guess I have my work cut out for me this summer - beat the high on both theglob, and snakepit. Seems easy enough, but, it should take a good couple of weeks. To paraphrase John, "Tune in this summer for the thrilling conclusion of...THE GLOB!" - Mark / MDA
