Watching the MARP first place recording and playing just a little myself, I think Sky Army is too easy to be a good choice for serious competition.

Tentatively looking at 10 Yard Fight now.

(I'm also afraid that cheesy version of "Bridge on the River Kwai" might drive me crazy pretty quickly.)

Good...... I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this game was too easy....... you'd certainly have needed a 1 hour time limit or similar. :)

played up to 1.5 million and then killed off about 30 extra lives.

on old versions of MAME, I couldn't even break a million.

ohh yeah, it's fixed. :D
<sniff>.............<sniff>

Can anybody else smell that?

I think it's a 5-man Robotron competition.

And it's coming this way...

Just waiting for a final decision from MARP's leadership regarding the settings that will be used for regulation play now that the emulation is (we hope) corrected. Reportedly it has been decided that difficulty 10 will be required, but no Special Rule has been added yet, so this is not official.

The bounties will be for Twin Galaxies Tournament Settings (Difficulty=5, 5 men - no extras) regardless. These would currently be legal as MARP submissions, but if the difficulty is raised to 10, they would not be, and I will have to allow submissions through other means.

Ready to go as soon as we get a decision one way or the other.

Special Rules are set now.

I'd recommend the robotryo romset for GEGOTW anyway since it defaults to difficulty 5 instead of difficulty 3, which makes one less thing to set at the beginning...

But if you have to go in to set the extra lives anyway, it's not much more trouble to set the difficulty as well.

And if we use the parent ROMset the recordings will at least be submissable for TG, presuming they go through with adopting WolfMAME .98. (There will be further bounties for the TG record and for an even million.)

"On Deck" game: Armor Attack
I remember leeching some good points shooting helicopters at Vectrex version. Tactic was something like getting tank to stay in same position, and helis coming frequently from same direction. There was little risk and big points compared to shooting tanks.

Haven't played MAME version though. You've been warned.

I think I remember seeing very high scores achieved in the arcade the way Tommi describes, but with two people instead of one so that you could cover copters from multiple directions. I'm not 100% sure on that though, and don't remember seeing it for one player.

Hm, interesting why game isn't split to two modes on MARP scoreboard:
1. solo
2. combined
John I think you should choose solo or combined.
If you ask about opinion: solo mode is default after press start, I vote for solo.

I'd say choose combined, if it's split by Friday. That way we'd get some competition for splitted mode too.

Well, has NotMan blown the lid off this one in advance or not?

He killed off his last few men, but it also looked like the game was getting harder at that point.
