No, that's my favourite bit..... that and crushing them on top of the elevator as well.... although it is quite funny watching them fall off into the elevator shaft as well!!!

Finally got past level 4...took all my lives though (got there on my 1st man). Final score 58000 (uploaded to the database)

I'm pretty sure you can still control the elevators. I just had it happen to me on level 1, and was still controlling them.
You still have some control of the elevators, but the response time gets worse. For example, if you're moving down and you want to start going up (eg, to avoid a shot), the elevator may not react as soon as you think it will. I think it might get to a point where you can only change the direction of the elevator if you reach a floor completely.

Also, I'm not sure if this is accurate, but I seem to remember if you stay on a level for too long after the music changes the first time then it will eventually start playing a different warning noise which might automatically kill you off.

Ah yeah, I didn't notice it the first time, but just had it happen on level 1. The elevators did seem to be not as responsive as normal once the music changed.

played a single game yesterday and scored 36k and made it to level 4. People seem to have trouble with level 4. Does the difficulty back down a little on level 5? Or does it max out on level 4 and stay there onwards?

the timing between which spies fire becomes less and less as you go down in building level (or spend time leeching on a single level) on building 7 there is almost no time between when spies see you, then fire at you.
