The smart money is on Ken Doherty to win the 2006 World Championship.
I have 50 Euros at 18/1.

Thats a handy 900 quid. Currently he's 8-1 up in first round, and in the easier half of the draw, and as I type it looks like John Higgins might go out as he's 7-4 down.....

Go on Ken!

That's not a bad bet. Top of the draw is pretty open. Maybe Murphy-Doherty at semis. Stevens hasn't shown much form this season, but he usually does play solid at worlds...
I don't think Ken showed gameplay to win the championships yet, but he has time to improve. He's allways a cool customer, I'd never bet a match against him!
Will be interesting to see if Davis gets Murphy's head mixed or not. Remember, Murphy is "Crucible jinxed" (nobody has won 2nd world title straight after first -I guess 1st one mixes your head a bit).

Bottom half of the draw, should be Hendry-Sullivan in the semis.
Hendry looks to have pretty straightforward path to semis, although he nowadays has the odd poor session every now and then(Or more like odd great session, bleh).
Shame Higgins's gone out early, really shame. Then there's Williams, but maybe hes confidence/consistency is still lacking a bit. Ronnie's form/mental side is a mystery right now. Yet, he is allways dangerous in long matches. Not bad at short ones either...

Well Ken is safely through. Mark Williams looks to be in good touch.
Just finished watching Paul Hunter, who looks to be struggling with stamina etc, although playing well. Best of luck to him.

Tomorrow will be painful for me, as it's Ronnie's first match. I was supposed to be there instead of watching it on TV, but of my two friends who were meant to attend with me, one has a long-term illness and the other has a long-term domestic 'situation'. And I didn't trust myself to travel alone....

Will be interesting to see 'which' Ronnie shows up tomorrow.

I see Ken is now 7/1.

Heard a good line from BBC commentators today. If Hendry wins again, he'll be known as 'Hendry The Eight'.

Ronnie looks like he's in touch.

Hendry in trouble 3-6 to Bond. Bond played well though. Bond has allways been a great potter. Must be nerves and breakbuilding for him not to have achieved more in snooker.
Hope to see vintage Hendry step up tomorrow. Come on Stephen, show us the God mode again. [-o<

Ronnie seems to have played well first session. As did Williams. Interesting matchup coming there.

As you know, Hendry has seen it all before.

I doubt Bonds's 'bottle', and ability to put Hendry to rest.

Time will tell........

Yes. Henry must play better than today to put some pressure on him.

Williams - Hamilton (10-1)post match interview
Hamilton wrote: The worst thing is that I felt really great in the balls.
I feel the same when I win.
Williams wrote: Q: You look very relaxed
A: I’m usually quote relaxed. I’ll try my best. I’m in the Group of Death apparently. With a bit of lucky O’Sullivan will go out, Hendry will go out, Maguire with go out, Stevens will go out and Willie Thorne will come in!

Couple interesting bets, can't really recommend them though, you'll likely loose your money, but fair odds, fair I say...

Before todays matches
To win tournament:
Hendry 22/1
Bond 200/1
Ebdon 33/1

If Hendry wins, 22/1 is awesome odds to bet on. Especially, since then he must have proven hes current form by making a comeback against Bond.
If Nigel wins...I doubt hes head will get through to be the champ, but absolutely hes odds should be less than 200/1 !! Man's on form.

Yesterday Ebdon's odds were 33/1. That's underestimating Peter. Also Holt seems to go down comfortably(Holt seems VERY nervous), next opponent being White/Gray, ha!
Murphy in the quarters, but as we know when Peter is all psyched he's going to pot everything in sight. He might bore Sullivan to death in the final ;)

I wouldn't bet against Hendry.

Oh God no.....Ebdon. Did you know Ebdon is now based in Dubai? I didn't. It said it yesterday at mid-session break.

Did you see the guys with the 'Big Willy Style' tee-shirts? Very good.

I don't like the new Crucible colour scheme either. Bring back the red!

Uh, wouldn't know about that. I hear hes been practising recently with Ronnie. He's a class player.

Nope, I assume somebody spelled Willies name wrong. Leave Willie alone! He has made most maximums in the world, in practise, according to hes own words. Also hes moustache is da coolest.

Absolutely! That's horrible colour.
I have played few games on a bright red pool table, yukh.

Jesus, the drama! Exciting scenes at the Crucible!

Amazing stuff. Just watched the BBC coverage (highlights), and they showed the last 35 mins of the frame.
Bond potted the match ball black, and went in off! Hendry had even unscrewed his cue. Oh man.

Bond can count himself lucky, after quite possibly the worst shot I've ever seen in professional snooker......yes that in-off the green in frame 11. WTF?

I need a drink after that.....

Go Ken!

I need a sixpack...or two...

Showed the last frame on €sport too. One of the most exciting frames evar!

Hendry had such bad luck, 2 kicks on the pink at positions he surely would have made break large enough. Otherwise at last frame Hendry made couple cueball close to cushion misses and many cool as a cucumber long pots.
I thought you would lose the frame straight when drowning white with the final black. Uhhhh, the drama, uhhhh.

You're right Nigel's white in the pocket was amateurish, and so was with the green at 7-3. Talk about giving the pot 100%

Great stuff from Ken. O'Sullivan in trouble. Wager looking good :)

And of course, Ebdon ruins the whole programme by wearing that "snazzy" waistcoat. Twat.
