Awesome still from last night's debate, Tommi! Perfect camera angle to get that effect. I saw it from a longer angle at the close of the debate and thought it was goofy. But this is off the charts...lol!

The biggest bookies in this country has already paid out on an Obama win:

I stuck €20 on the election being cancelled (only odds of 20/1).

Wonder if they pay for McCain bettors if the unexpected happens.

I'm an atheist but please God don't let that happen. There's a good chance that finally there will be a really intelligent and charismatic leader in USA.
Very important for world politics, nuclear issues, economy, environment...and for America to turn back to a democratic nation(in the sense of opposite to dictatorship/police-state/whatever lack of morality).
I know I should avoid politics here but...excuse me.

politics are all about the PIT :) no need to pray to your athiest god, maybe what they say will be true. I just can't think of any bookie paying out on a result that hasn't happened yet, that just seems really bad, like they want to jinx the election. My athiest god says obama will win, but he's also said there's no way that the redsox would win a world series and they've won two and came near a third. I will pray his predicion comes true like i did for the later :)

haha people fail to understand that who wins elections is not usually the better candidate or if high ranking "right" officials are voting for a "left" president. O'bama needs to use some reverse psychology and put on a cowboy hat and start saying "mission accomplished" and the "economy is strong." but i'm glad he won't stoop. he's been pretty passive and that might win swing voters. The only way anyone can win is to win those. since people already in a party have already decided who they will vote for, well ahead of random polls that mean no more than an entertainment tonight birthday listing.

That was very interesting documentary. Thanks!
I do believe what they said was mostly true.

Also what was interesting to see this finnish expert, Harri Hursti...he used to be sort of famous here, he became known to finns when he competed at tv show Double or Nothing...at very young age. His expertise in the show was some programming language which he had used to compile a program for some British company. He lived with his parents not so far from where I did although I believe he was couple years older and went to different school. There used to be interviews and comments from him in every other "Mikrobitti"-magazine here during 80's...

Always wondered what happened to him...Now I read some info about him at web...some IT businesses sold...millionaire etc.
Currently he's trying to convince Americans that their voting system is unreliable...it is.

-Long cues in poor areas
-Republicans trying to...what was the word...disenfranchise some Democrat voters

-Statisticians say Al Gore lost 260 000 votes in Florida due cheating.
-Statistically electronic voting has tendency to add more Republican votes...which is explained by:
-Hursti hack. Hursti proved you can hack memory card easily and affect voting from one machine...I believe that -16 000 votes for Democratic candidate was exactly because of this. And it certainly wasn't the only case.

-But here's the latest...biggest vendor 60% of the machines... I read an Finnish article where Hursti tells that Any voter can completely dictate outcome of the presidential elections not even having to connect physically into the voting machine! (or simply using hacked memory card or using voting machines serial port in less than minute)
...One only needs a palm device with a program in it(virus), use magnet to activate infrared port. Upload virus. Virus will move to mainframe and display any kind of figures you want. After that virus will destroy itself. Nobody will never know. You can decide the president(too) by yourself, great isn't it?

-Also note that even if the results would not be hacked at all before mainframe, the vendors of the machines have password to mainframe where any admin can change the results manually.

-Belgium, Britain and USA had these machines. Belgium replaced them while back.

It appears that polls are more reliable than actual voting, huh. Unfortunately with these presidential elections they can always blame "bradley effect". Scary.

I sounded like conspiracy theorist, no?

...But don't take my word alone about it:

And something about Hursti hack, it's difficulty is classified as easiest hack, "script kiddy" level.. :)

Here's the article IN FINNISH about changing outcome of the whole elections with a palm computer(or mobile phone...)

Interesting article about "vote purging"
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10 ... pstoryview

"There, the state Republican Party sued Ohio's Democratic secretary of state in an effort to make her generate a list of people who had mismatched information. But Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner said generating such a list would create numerous problems too close to the election and possibly disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters."

...Meanwhile Alaskan newpaper endorses Obama. :)

Yes you do. It's one thing to say that it's possible, but another to say that it happened with no proof. To use a gaming analogy, it's like Dwayne and Robert accusing Steve Wiebe of cheating without showing any proof. It's rude.

As for statistics, you can always pick the ones you like. Other statisticians have stated that a statewide recount would still have gone to Bush. As always, there are some dirty tricks on both sides, but there's no proof that this decided the election. Eight years later, and still a whole lot of nothing. In the end, I gotta blame Gore for being so unappealing that people would vote not only for Bush, but Nader as well for any alternative.

Anyway, I'm happy with the Obama win. I expected positive reaction from overseas, but I'm surprised by how much. Let's just try to put this whole Bush era behind us. That won't be easy, but even moreso if we have to relive 2000 and 2004. Please let it die. :(
