Is the Ipad any good for business? I would liek to get one and I am using my HTC Desire at present.

I haven't had time to read any reports etc since it came out so I am asking here as a quick guide.

Laptop: $1000
or
Ipad: $700

How much of a hurry are you in to purchase?

Based on what I've seen in a brief play with the Samsung tablets running the Win8 developer preview that they gave away at the Microsoft //build conference this year, I'd use one of those for business over an iOS or Android Tablet. It has a slightly larger form factor than the iPad, but it's still a "joy" to use when running the Metro style touch applications and you feel less like you're at risk of breaking it than with an iOS or Android tablet. But, the real beauty of a Win8 tablet device is that one of the "Metro style apps" is a full "Win7 style desktop" that will allow you to run all your current Windows apps such as Microsoft Office etc. This means once you dock the device you can get it to drive a full sized monitor and use a keyboard and mouse to do all your standard business activity. It also means you have all your documents with you when you're out on the road, especially handy if you just need to quickly refer to some of your documents while you out of the office.

It also has an impressive boot time that is faster than most smart phones I've used. Partly due to Microsoft putting a lot of effort into reducing the foot print and start up times and partly due to the SSD.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
BeeJay.
