To all our Italian friends here at Marp. I hope none of you have been directly affected by your most recent earthquake.

If you have, you have my sympathies, as being from Christchurch, NZ, I know all too much about earthquakes recently.

Thanks BeeJay,as far as i know no one of italian marpers live in affected territories,or at least not so near that having been hit or injured by that terrific quake.
The nearest one is RAX,he's living about 50 km from hitted zones,of course i have already call him @phone and he told me that he and his family are fine.

Thankyou guys, these quakes are the worst thing I ever felt around here. Luckily my house is far enough to not get damaged, but many historic palaces around are gone: churches, towers, medieval castles. Sadly many industries fell down too, and we had over twenty casualties in the towns around epicentres.
Yesterday we had a strong event daytime, and three consecutive 5M+ later, nine days after the first one.
Our region was supposed to be a low-risk zone, we really hope that earth calm down soon. But journalists here are involved in a race: whoever publishes the scariest prevision wins, so reading a newspaper is not the best thing to relax in these days.

I'll never forget the 7.1 that jolted us out of our sleep in September 2010. Hard to believe how long ago that was now!!

Yes, it's very sad to see old buildings disappear as a result of the quakes. We're losing around 1,200 of our commercial buildings from the CBD here in Christchurch, nearly 1,000 are already completely demolished. Over 7,000 homes have now been "written off" as having land too badly damaged to ever have houses built on that land again, with more still likely to go the same way. That's not including the 1,000s of houses that are "written off" but on land where they can be rebuilt after remedial work is completed to stabilise the land, or the 100,000+ of houses that need less serious work done to repair earthquake related damage.
