K5 Round 2 - Maniac Square [Prototype] (Elimination)

Post by BBH »

(forums were down for a couple hours which prevented the posting of this. We're looking into moving the K5 webpage to a different domain so that games can be announced there even if the forums are down.)

Game - Maniac Square [Prototype] (maniacsp)
Target Score - Top 24 move on to the next round
Duration of Round - September 9th 2006 00:00 GMT - September 15th 2006 23:59 GMT

Image

It's a puzzle game. Yep.

Note that we are using the Prototype version of this game, not the regular finished version of the game. Why? The finished version seemed to be a lot easier to complete, but it has a horrible scoring system that makes tie scores pretty common. The prototype version has a much better scoring system... but seeing how it's a prototype, I don't know if they balanced the difficulty all that well, as the later levels of this game appear to be quite difficult. But maybe that's because I suck at puzzle games. :P Let's see if anyone can complete all 30 levels!

MARP is still being flaky, so we'll still be accepting recordings through either MARP or this thread, as usual.

Haven't played this game before. Looking at the top ten scoring inside it, from 5 to 10 you find SAB-AND-IJA-ASQ-UER-OSA, that in spanish means "sicky vermin", probably related to the top 4, but i don't know the meaning of GOJ.

In the regular version those 7 last names are changed, so GOJ wasn't publicly offended 8)

haha, that's a pretty cool little fun fact. I still like "BIG COT TON PAN TSU" better though. :D

Well, thinking that way, every other kind of game is fucked for me, with you being the master. (Not to mention that you took first place the last time you crowned me puzzle-master.) :-)

Anyway, I feel lucky having a puzzle game this week, giving me a chance to stay in the tournament. Life is upside down and playing-time will be more or less none after today.

Good luck, everyone!

One thing is excellent in this game - sound. But game is crap. Too fast on later levels.

This is definitely not my type of game, but I'm getting a little better at it (which is a pleasant surprise). I just hope I can improve enough to advance.
