I never thought rewarding people with points throughout the week was a good idea - it just can lead to, once again, the inevitable "let me hold my score until the deadline," except it can now potentially happen multiple times a round instead of just once.

These knockout tournaments could be a lot larger, I think. Let's talk about that instead...

I think, if my memory serves me correctly, that it wasn't Neill's actual hacking that rubbed us(or at least me) the wrong way, that part could have easily been appreciated, rather it was how he handled the incident on our forums and our IRC channel. Now, this being said, this was something that happened seven years ago, so it's probably best for us to move on. :)
Yeah, it was the "I'm da best" attitude that really pisses us off.
And his contributions to the emulation scene are more damaging than anything else, for example I think the ECM crap toward PSX/Saturn discs. :? But this is neither the right time nor place to talk about him so ...

Another idea... does inp recording work with a previous save state load?

If it does, the tournament organizers could provide a save state every 24h and it is very unlikely an inp recorded without having previously loaded that save state would work.

Of course, this would only be possible for games with save states support.

inp recording breaks with f3 so it will probably break with savestate loading as well (MAME would need to either be coded to load a savestate during inp playback or the inp would need to include the savestate code)

Also the savestate saving/loading is disabled during inp recording on the versions of MAME we're using.

Hey let's eliminate people if they don't beat the opponent's score in 48 hours.
Hiding your score won't do you any good if you're already elminated

Mjsty, i can''t play more than i try this week (almost 80 times only) and i can announce that you are victorious :-)

Good luck for the next round... against the winner of the "ghost duel" of this week... PAC, The Pro ? Where are you ?

What will be decided if none of them send his score ?

Wait and see :-)

52 players isn't bad for a tournament... but we did have 88 for K7 and 68 for K6... (if I researched/counted correctly) but then again, I had six players for the HARP championships...

52 players isn't very competitive for a 32 man tournament bracket lol

Some people will end up getting easy opponents for most of their rounds with those kinds of numbers

Uhm ... think that you have one good opponent the very next round, so if I was you I would rather avoid in going into trash talking land right now.

Yeah, imho that's also quite against the basic sportsmanship as well. Final result on PAC vs. The Pro is 0 - 0, so it definitely needs some decision from the knockout tourneys. Any thoughts?

For me 2 options :
1°) no score before deadline, no one pass, mjsty is directly in 1/4
2°) a "lucky loser" takes the place (the best score of the eliminated people)

I agree with phil's first proposition: if no score is sent from two players before deadline they are both out of the tourney

I think 0-0 it´s Technically a tie. We would have to break a tie
