I think you should do Cherry Master in the next round, all these games of skill are taking too much precious time away from Kale which means we can't get on with any actual MAME development ;-)

Congratulation to the semi-finalists!
Some player used settings different than default.
BBH, did you use bios 5? :)

This game has bios?

Does it have time attack mode too?

My theory is just that .wlf saves your full MAME ini, so BBH has default neogeo bios = 5.

It just stores whatever your current settings are. It'll have no effect for any driver that doesn't have a selectable BIOS.

Next round / Semi-Finals (I updated http://www.konkuri.com/tournaments/abc8149f1f/matches ):

BBH (1) vs RedStar (5)
Kale (6) vs LAWLZSHOOTERGAMES (2)

Despite the results, and just to get the ball rolling, let me know what do you think...
Let's continue an unofficial bracket? Just for fun.

TRB_MetroidTeam (9) vs Zerstorung (4)
PAC (3) vs DaLar (10)

Bad idea? Let me know!

PS.: If all right, to avoid calling it "Losers Bracket", I will call it "Side Competition" or "2nd Division" lol

Hi !

Congrats to the semi finalists :-)

Playing with wolf 0.140, i noticed that emulation of the game is faster than with 0.106.

Look at the dat :
- 0.135u1: Corrado Tomaselli verified/changed clocks and VSync to 61.31 Hz in Turbo Force.
If you play simultanely the 2 versions of 0.106 and 0.140, you will see the difference after a few seconds. And i garantee you this game appears easier with wolf 106 than with wolf 140 especially on boss 2, the bullets are so slow on 0.106 ^^

So feel free to take the good decision about the scores in marp database :-)

Cheers.

Yeah I accidentally forgot to change the -bios setting in my mame.ini. Not that it changes anything, it doesn't break playback and doesn't change anything in the game since it only has the one bios. Needless to say I've changed it back just in case it has an effect on the next game, but if the next game has different bios settings you can bet it would be Japanese ;P

This would explain all the slowdown I see when there's a lot of bullets on-screen.

Let's just zero everything and * out the game so nobody has to submit anything on it ever again... I'm sorry, I'm trying not to complain about games because I think I pissed off the coordinators a few years ago, but I know I'm justified on this one because it's not just me. Turbo Force is a terrible shmup. :( Why is the player ship so slow in a game with "Turbo" in its name? Why is the rank so relentless which makes surviving through stage 4 with no deaths nearly impossible? Why does the powerup system make you LOSE power as you shoot? And then there's the stage 6 debacle, where everyone dies at least once because it is nearly impossible to find a safe spot through all that. I did savestate practice and tried countless times, I think maybe ONCE I managed to kill the robots without losing a life, but needless to say that wasn't happening in a real run. So infuriating!

But hey, what's done is done. TRB, sorry again that we ended up having to play each other in a shmup (especially such a bad one), I know you weren't happy about that :( RedStar I'm sure we will have a good competition!... if the game is good...

I think i made a mistake on this particular case because for this point, it was just the fact i arrived with a lower power shot (in 0.106) than on another game (in 0.140 or 0.106).

It's more a matter of the game's rank that can be controlled through no means except dying. If you get to the 2nd boss without dying, bullets will be faster. If you die at some point close to before the boss, the bullets will be slower.

Actually there is really a way, but there's a really small percentage of error.
In my inp I've managed to kill them without losing any life. :P

EDIT: here we go -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fP5Jy85yQDw

Basically game is faster yes, but slowdowns are still present, maybe even more now than on 0.106 :|. I'm also sure that if/when waitstate* support will be added to the driver then there will surely even be a slight hit of in the slowdown field.

*HW-wise, a waitstate is a sort of time penalty for accessing devices in a given system like ROM/RAM/I/Os etc. Every system made in this world have them and almost nothing in MAME uses them.

As with the last game, I'll do a head-to-head comparison to see what's up...

BBH (1) vs RedStar (5) - 121211 - 4-2
Kale (6) vs LAWLZSHOOTERGAMES (2) - 112111 - 5-1

Well at first sight it's going to be 1 vs. 2 in the grand final... but I guess you never know, huh? Good luck to all! :)

Congrats to the 4 semifinalists! ...and Big thanks to the coordinators - I'll definitely be back for K9 c",)

I had fun playing all the games (though I suck at most 2D fightergames like Ninja Master's,, Tekken 3 on the other hand, that's my favorite!)

ShMup is not my strong side either - I need platform/action/puzzle to be able to compete.. ;)

I'm up for for a go in the "2nd Division" - I'm not done playing yet :)
