Maybe recording with forced no-frameskip would be enough, anyway for this turn I'll use 106 instead.
Yes, this inp should be 4.5m but it desynchs at gang 16 (and it shows). Driver is pretty old, I hope that 0.106 doesn't have the same problem ...

I don't know what to say. We tested out playback in 0.148 prior to the tournament, and did not encounter any desyncs. For this to be happening now with no obvious cause as to why is extremely frustrating.

I have never had any problems with this game and Wolf106 my score is confirmed perfectly fine.

I am submitting here for this replay as my score is lower than the one I currently have in the MARP database.

Ouch yes this definitely sucks! #-o
We've tried recording with 0.106 and 0.148 and both worked for us.

I wonder if the inp format could include some sort of extra information to detect issues during playback.
Sort of like zip files which refuse to uncompress if the file is corrupted.
I know this has nothing to do with file corruption but probably something can be done.
Some internal check every certain amount of frames to ensure emulation is running exactly like the first time when the inp was recorded.

Mahlemiut, Kale? :)

Most of the time if something doesn't playback properly is because the emulation does something "off-the-book", like doing non-emulation stuff inside the video routines like collisions (that's why for example Sega System 1 required fskip 0 during record/playback some years ago). Namco System 2 probably got an hard to trace issue during one of the global framework changes that went between 0.106 and 0.148, and I assure you that the driver isn't exactly my favourite as far as programming style goes.

But anyway, it's not a big deal (also because I've managed to improve meanwhile). Just stick with 0.106 and everything should work fine.

THE BSM Wow you had an amazing Game!

Kinda wondering how you got the Perfects on the bonus Levels? Seems the only thing different from what i'm doing is your firing faster then i was?
Is there something more to these Bonus levels i'm not noticing?

Thanks for the help!
Most i've ever gotten on mame is 500k on Bonus

Both i've gotten Higher on my system with many games on it.

1M is easy to get on the first bonus stage. Just sweep left and right, shooting each enemy once as you go should do it.
Conditions for a perfect bonus are a) not letting any enemy grab energy, and b) landing enough hits on the enemies (speed is not important, just the total number of hits)

DaLar, your 3,033,070 recording is desyncing for me.

As mentioned in the rules thread, we're going to allow wolf140 for this game to see if playback works any better than 0.148. It's untested, so use it at your own risk. If you're ok with using wolf106 then by all means stick with it.

Sure! If you have a rotated monitor setup, then go for it!

BBH - Sorry for broken .inp.. I did not test playback before submission, because I planned to up my score shortly after, but I didn't try until now..
To find that both commandline Wolf148 and 140 desyncs on my PC.. Ended up with this line:
Wolfmame>Record cosmogng cosmogng -fs=0 -nosound
..but it still desyncs....

So tried good ol' GUI Wolfmame106 and it works fine..! :? Maybe I have old romsets..?

Is the playback an issue with nvram? Are people making sure they remove it?

That's certainly a possibility, although I'm pretty sure Kale knows what he's doing. :)
Dalar's post suggests that he's using the included record.bat which current version will include -nvram_directory NUL, also.

oldtimes / Goldtimes...

Both of you submitted the same recording, which doesn't playback to either of your posted scores (it quits after the first bonus stage)...

Care to explain what's going on here?

I don't think it's a romset thing, and disabling sound doesn't affect playback any more (as far as I know). Nobody's figured out the cause of these desyncs in these versions, which is really frustrating.
