Olympiad Coordinator Nominations

Post by gameboy9 »

I know I'm doing this right in the middle of voting for games in the MARP Tourney, but...

With over 3/4 of those voting interested, at least at the time I typed this, I'm going to start the election for Olympiad Coordinator.

Same rules as the General Election, but you must have submitted one game for the months of November, December, and/or January, in order to vote, pursuant to the MARP procedures I believe.

Last I checked, though, anybody can nominate anybody, except yourself... so this period of nominations, which I'd like to do this through this post on the message board, will go until January 20, 2359 GMT.

Then we'll have a vote from January 21 to January 30, under the same rules as the General Election, with Barry collecting the secret ballot votes.

So... what say ye? :)

I don't really understand the nominations principle established for the MARP elections : "anybody can nominate anybody, except yourself... ", you say. Why this ? It should be like in any other electiones everywhere in the world ( at least in democratic countries ) : Who is candidate ? And then clearly, people vote for them or not. Why nominate someone who is maybe not interested ? According to me, that rule for all the current and future elections should be changed.

About this Olympiad election, I don't nominate someone : all I can say is that I'm not candidate.

Cheers,
Lagavulin,
2003 MARP Tournament Coordinator.

Well, that rule was there so that at least one other person supported that person who was to be nominated.

Maybe that rule isn't appropriate anymore... so perhaps we should change the rule, which is possible with a 2/3 vote if I remember right.

Well... I guess nobody nominated anybody... so now what happens?

Gosh if I know - any thoughts from anybody, especially the editors, on this issue?

All I can say to you, sir, is that you should tell the REAL olympiad coordinators that.

And yes... long live the tournament - that is quite true.

The future? Heck if I know.

Actually I wanted it to be right around this time... but since no coordinator was voted in the first time I tried... (there had to be an election, legally, nobody nominated anybody) and it seems like people want olympiads to be every four years... (unless somebody wants to tell me otherwise)

Why not make Marp Olympiad the same year of the real Olympiad; so it's 2004 not 2005 :)

Nooooo, he sent me a private message and is therefore my friend!

Seriously though, if a bot posted that message, fine, but if an actual person wrote that on a 2 year old thread, that's just sad.
