yeah it's really time for a scoring system Vote, otherwise recordings will be all over the place with full games. By the way, the full game baseball scoring systems are still being checked and edited so be prepared for a long wait uploading pigskin (usa football + basketball) games until you know what your score really will be.

Why not make it the same as the current baseball rules?
Full game (+overtime if needed to finish)
100 points for a win + score difference..
That would at least increase the incentive to get a better lead as opposed to just scoring more points.

In my opinion the best scoring system for BBall would simply be point difference.

What about games with their own scoring mechanisms such as (Super) High Impact - do we use that or the scoring differential.

You should check scoring we've made for pc_dbldr concerning basketball games.
It works fine

NBA Jam is a basketball scoring game, with mandatory buyin.

you have to buy in to finish the game, the cost is fixed, and the game will not be saved to standings unless you play all four quarters. many midway sports games are like this.

so sorts games that use the game's actual clock, (american football, football, etc) and you pay per period, then you sohudl buy in for each period to complete the game, as the games were designed that way.

Cyberball is special case. it has two forms of buyin. pay for period, AND pay for cash to replace broken players. the former is okay, the latter is NOT. if you game over due to being unable to afford a replacement player, you lose.

but if you pay for a time clock that's separate from the games' actual clock, then you got to make due with what you start with.

There are a ton of games, but as a rule, if it's impossible to finish a game on one quarter, and the game ends when it is supposed to end (with no further play possible after the game ends), then play out the full game with the credits required for it. If overtime is a separate coin, then that's NOT allowed. Say you play nba jam. you are tied at the end of regulation. overtime costs more coins. it's your fault for allowing the tie, and game ends there.

SO the question is is paying for overtime allowed? i vote no.
