I dont know if this has been brought up before but if it has then I apologise.
What are the views of the leeching on the second stage? Looking at previous submissions I see it goes on quite a bit, a hell of a lot actually. I was under the impression that this sort of play wasnt really allowed on marp. I wouldnt mind submitting a recording for this as it was one of my favourites in the old arcade days but going to and fro shooting birds on the second stage for eternity to max out the score isnt really playing the game in my book. Anyone else have any thoughts on this.

This was discussed on the old board... and leeching on Stage 2 was pretty much outlawed, although at least one person was still doing it. I argued that leeching can't be done FOREVER (the points you earn always end up just shy of an extra), and to really take advantage of the gold you build up, you have to finish the game. So it's just a matter of maximizing points before finishing... but yes, it is very lame to shoot birds for half an hour.

The thing is, what exactly is "too much leeching"? How does one go about proving they're better at the game, short of a no-miss clear? It's a sticky issue, another platformer with a screwy scoring system.

Hi

Thought we said that a leech on one life was allowed?

The recordings that are posted (ie: 999,990) break the rules...

Can we sort this out as I want to upload a couple of new INP's ???

As I'm aware of it - you can stage 2 leech one life. I think that was back when I just edited the recordings w/o a lot of debate... I did that to make a recording a lot more interesting. I mean... would you want to see somebody leech for a very long time? I certainly wouldn't. 8)

Sorry

Could we also have a SPECIAL RULES link inserted too so it won't happen again?

Cheers

Hi

I would say we should ban any form of leech on the second level, discretion of one of the ADMINS etc....

Another option is when u leave the bird leech section your score must not beover XXXX amount??

option 3, a one off leech, then the player must walk straight through and up the ladder without reversing...

Option 4, forget it all and let anyone who can finish the game take the 999,990 with any amount of leeching (This would be the easiest route to take as you must finish the game)

Comments?

Game Guru

ps. the old 999,990 scores still remain......
Including my 4 million score???

I'd say just no leeching on the second stage at all. Just play it all the way through and complete the darn thing! Leeching on one life would be ok I suppose.

Who else is leeching besides miyuu?

And anybody can delete their own scores by changing the game name to deleted and/or DQ themselves by changing their score to 0.

Hi

I just finished.the game on one life with no leeching, total score of around 1.6 million....

From that you can see if any of the other scores leeched points!

Later
