720 playback

Post by The TJT »

Do these playback for you guys...or is mame version too old for anyone to bother..

http://marp.retrogames.com/index.cgi?mo ... ayer=^%TJT

No nvram used, no previous hi, 720.cfg included in zip. Frameskip 0(draw every frame)
Have had problems with this game allways for me(and others). Now it's time to solve this prob. Looks like only submissions confirmed at 720 are made using mame36beta3 and beta4- dos or win. Those mame versions have serious speed problems with 720.

AND/OR

zipfile end of this message

I tried using Kale's F2 trick for Atari playback.
This is what I did:
Downloaded m32 36final from marp
made own folder for it, made folders cfg, nvram, roms and inp(mame made also images-folder).
Put audiow32.dll,midas11.dll and zlib.dll into mame folder.
Changed frameskip(options-default-advanced)to "draw every frame"

Used f2 trick(first start game, press f2, exit, start recording, waith short time, press f2 and play) and before that copied default.cfg,720.cfg and 720.nv.

So can you playback this file with default.cfg and 720.nv included? Playback should stay for first 30 sec or so at service mode, don't press f10 during that.
Should be about 214k. The roms are old ones, I can send you if you don't have them.
Thank you very much,
Tommi

TJT claims 720 won't playback in anything newer than 0.36.

I'll have to test this in macmame. I don't think it's an issue in macmame though....will inform once tested.

0.36 mame versions only for 720 to playback correctly, I'm almost 100% sure about that. I'm going to try a few experiments as well though.

If anybody finds a way to get 720 (or APB) to playback in wolfmame, I'll buy them a big frothy beer!

Yes, I now tried about everything with wolf78. Nothing works for the playback. The clone war has not begun...

Tried f2 trick with or without nvram, nothing seems to work. Even tried f2 while boot, no results. game crashes either at start of the game, just when music starts to play...or sometimes it playbacks for few parks and then crashes. What I have not tried is do f2 trick at startup plus at the end of playback to leave it on...

Has anybody tried at other mames, not only wolf or mameplus. With f2 trick ofcourse.

Nevertheless I'm very happy that now my 720 inps do playback at some version. Thanks Chad for taking effort to confirm. Next time I'll try make even more enjoyable playback session :P
How long time I've been trying to get the game to playback ...

m32_36final works great.
m32_36b4 is very slow, maybe even under acceptable percentage for marp. I have P4 2,4...

TJT

P.S.
Win36 wouldn't work for playback either, unless f2 trick.
I have default files that I copy to replace new ones before play each time. 720*.cfg, default.cfg, 720*.nv. With those it should playback. Also I do use frameskip 0
...funny thing is I don't know if I change mame settings for 36, frameskip etc...where the changes are made. Just find a file called mame3236lgc, in Windows\applog\ -so maybe there. Wolfmame has mame.ini, for each version (or directory).

Yeah, I think it's a lost cause trying to get this to playback on newer versions, which is a shame.

Nice scores anyway Tommi. I think I'm going to have to dust my skate shoes off and raise a challenge (as soon as I fix my hard drive which is playing up :( )
