ANNOUNCEMENT : START OF KNOCKOUT TOURNAMENT 3 (k3)

Post by Phil Lamat »

K3 is starting !!
Version used will be alphamame67
The format of k3 will be mostly the same than k2
(I will update a page very soon)

First round will be very easy : it's just a registering round to the tournament ... all players reaching 100 on the game ULTENNIS (using actual Marp scoring) will be qualified for next round ; it means just win a match
I've chosen this game for 2 reasons :
1-there is no entry on it (except mine) and as this is a quite good tennis game, I think it needs to be discovered
2-this game could occure some ties but this is not important for this round (only reaching 100 is the aim, but results will be used for ranking seeds later ... so you can to finish the game it will be better for you)

The following will depend on how many players have registered by passing rd 1 ;
for example if we have 50 players qualified, then the top 32 on next game will be qualified, after top16 ... etc

When only 8 players will remain, we will do quarter-semi-final ; ranking seeds in quarter will be defined by previous results on previous rounds

Start of k3 :
today ; just enter a 100+ score on Ultennis using the entry "k3-rd1" (k3 round 1) to be qualified for rd 2

End of round 1 : saturday 24 May at 23:59 GMT (Marp time)

Good luck to all !!

More infos :

FAQ : can we press ESC after 1st win ?
yes of course, you have still 100 and are qualified

Please check your input before uploading, some of you had some problems ; if needed you can use alphamame66, there is no playback problem with this one

Submit a 100 : it's just a registration round ; 80% can be allowed for this round

Using the 'get MAME' link should work.

But yes, I really should make up a page for it at some point.

Hi!

I´m totally new to the competitions (knockouts, tournaments...)

My question is the following: (always with questions!! :) ).

The points in the leadership table are affected by the inp of the tournament?

Which are the efects of those tournaments in the leader board?
All the rounds affect the points of the leader board? None?

Thx

Zwaxy has made script so that all entries with tournament prefixes (t6-, k3- ...) are not counted in the general leaderboard

Concerning links to versions, I think Barry should add last alpha bersions to the "old versions" page you can get in the upper banner menu

Phil, all previous like o1- etc. all had "0 pts" for the leaderboard pts associated with the scores.

The k3- submitted scores are having leaderboard pts assigned to them and appears to count toward their total.

You can see this by easily looking at the uploads which has a few k3- entries already.

A couple have even submitted the same inp for the game itself for the leaderboard pts.

I thought an inp file is only allowed to be applied to one thing. Even when/if the k3 scores don't yield any leaderboard pts they shouldn't be allowed to use the exact same inp file for both k3 and regular score submission IMHO.

Remember that MAME now auto-creates the NVRAM folder. Setting nvram_directory to NUL in mame.ini (or Options->Directories... in MAME32) will fix this.
