Arcade controllers?

In the past, I've thought about building my own set of arcade controllers (no room for an actual cabinet). But since you all know I'm lazy, why not just buy one?

Now that there are a number of different ones around, other than the HotRod, who here has opinions on them? I'm sure that between the people here, a variety of them are owned.

A simple list of them would also help, so I can go looking myself. And to consider shipping costs, I'm in Canada. It used to be a problem for getting a HotRod (sooo expensive to ship here), but I don't know if that's still the same or not.

have a hotrod se, very good buttons and controls but doesn't have a usb connector (only ps/2)

I am looking to buy http://www.slikstik.com/detail.aspx?ID=66 with the spinner upgrade, at 169+89=260$ it's a pretty decent deal with an arcade setup plus spinner. I think it is discounted 10$ to for the holiday season and it's usb!

While the buttons and stick are great on my HotRod SE, I personally find that the gap between the buttons is a little too large if you're playing a game with more than 2 fire buttons.

eg: On Gunsmoke I find my fingers starting to get a little too sore with the permanent stretch I need to use to cover all 3 fire buttons. I guess that's why back in the 'cades they used a "pyramid" style arrangement on the three buttons to make them feel more comfortable to use. Well they did in all the 'cades I visited anyway.

I find the same thing on my OzStick when playing fighters - either that or my hands are already feeling old.

Never had that problem when playing fighters in the arcades. Same button formation though (3 top, 3 bottom).

Also, Patwos, get your ass back into #marp - a Java IRC client should work for you.

My Namco psx arcade joystick is great, very authentic, better than the real thing even

You can pick up a secondhand one cheap on ebay, and buy a usb psx2pc cable.

Sanwa modded Dreamcast stick is what i like to use for everything, the buttons especially are SO good for firing fast and the stick just so accurate. Perfect for fighters, shooters everything

I've ordered quite few items from this company. They are very good. But the above statement usually means it will be quite awhile. Hopefully it won't be that long.
