Moderator: BBH

Do you want a leaderboard in which members are ranked by first place recordings first, then by second places, etc..etc..?

I think all you need to do is change the MARP code so there is a limit on the number of score submissions in one day for each gamer...maybe 5? maybe 3?

think 3 would limit things during MARP contests too much....but 5? should even be ok for most during a contest.

sure, over the course of many months that person could still get tons uploaded....but it does address part of the flooding concept....confirming/verification...wouldn't worry about them except for real first place scores...not inaugural ones etc.

thought a long time ago we had discussed and established all gambling games would get archived anyway....yet lots of newer slot machine or poker etc. type games accepted.

might see a little activity out of me the next 1.5 weeks...on a 2 week vacation! :P

Maybe set score barrier for each game?

How about if a user has 5 unconfirmed uploads then they can't upload anymore until their uploads are confirmed. If nobody can confirm the uploads, it's up to the uploader to remove them?

Should help stop the flooding of inps that don't play back at least.

good discussion, a 5 unconfirmed uploads rule would prevent people who are just "average" making great personal best recordings that are good but just don't get confirmed. We have to continue to give incentive to the casual gamer to improve their personal best. Fox Mulder is a great uploader but he rarely gets confirmed because he's usually below 3rd place and that would stop him from uploading...

A limited number of uploads 3 in 24 hour period sounds better. in contests, people rarely upload more than once per day i.e. they only have their best recording and upload it latest in the day. Then if someone beats them, they have a chance of uploading twice more.

I agree that the 5 unconfirmed uploads rule would not work.

A limited number in 24 hours would not be a very great solution either as A) It works against people who upload all their weeks recordings in one go, and B) Anyone pursuing a place on the leader board would still be able to use their daily limit to slowly work their way up using recordings of such gambling games.

I would prefer archiving these games as the best solution. Assuming that these games are random and no skill is required, there would be little point in keeping these recordings unless they were as archived recordings.
As for the upload screen getting full - a simple solution would be to add an option to the script to filter out archived records from the screen - maybe an additional parameter setting on the 'search' form?

ok, so let's say you set a score each day over a week...7 scores to submit. You submit 5 at the end of the week and the other 2 the following day. that doesn't seem like that much of an inconvenience to me.

Limiting the number of submission to 5/day won't absolutely discourage these kind of submissions. They wouldn't be 85 in a day anymore, yes. But they will be 5+5+5+.....5=85 in 17 days. In the end we will have the same 85 junk submissions.
The point is perfectly stated by BBH: no-one will look at those useless inps, except for the hero-confirmer. The only way is to archive gambling games. Archive every game where the only purpose is to win some money and not to realize a score or finish a game, or show whatever skill.
