Saturday Night Slam Masters

Post by LastNinja2 »

I've noticed that MARP doesn't make distinction between scores obtained on "Single Match" mode or "Team Battle Royal" mode. I think they should be separated: the two game modes are very different and the battle royal matches can bring to much higher scores, making pointless and frustrating to try to have a good game in single match (which is, i repeat, very different from the tag team matches in terms of gameplay).
Thanks for your dedication on MARP, guys :)

Team Battle mode is 2 vs. 2 which is basically a multiplayer game. Even if you select only 1 player and no one else joins in, it ends up as Player 1 & CPU vs. CPU & CPU.

That's not my point. What i meant is that, proceeding through the game, you normally make a lot more points playing team battle royal than single match, making totally pointless playing normal mode for score on MARP. This could only be fixed by separating scores for both modes as done, for example, for Magical Drop 3 (Magical Journey or Challenge Mode).

No, I understood your point. What I'm saying is that I will not do a split because there is a CPU on your side which you do not have direct control over.

The scale may be smaller for single match, but it is still a legitimate scoring system. Of course, you can always play team mode for fun.

Basically, I agree with Pat.
Maybe we can forbid the use of 2 players mode in special rules ?
it will prevent future uploads getting higher scores with this mode

Yes, in order to make it fair, we'll need to create special rules and weed out the Team Battle scores.

Games affected:
slammast "Saturday Night Slam Masters (World 930713)"
slammastu "Saturday Night Slam Masters (US 930713)"
mbomberj "Muscle Bomber - The Body Explosion (Japan 930713)"
mbombrd "Muscle Bomber Duo - Ultimate Team Battle (World 931206)"
mbombrdj "Muscle Bomber Duo - Heat Up Warriors (Japan 931206)"

I've just realised that these games have already a split (-tt for Tag Team) in the database !?

Mmmmm ; Pat you've removed the -tt splits, right ?
they still appear on the top3 page, but I know the update delay ;
and I can't manage to move the Battle Royal scores on it (about half of the scores)

After better look, I think splits should stay (-sm and -tb):
the game displays hiscore table for both ;
Gamest also has the split

For info LastNinja, if you're in the mood :
Muscle Bomber (single match) : 1,137,000
Muscle Bomber (team battle royal) : 1,200,200

Ok, results after watching :
ALL scores on Marp were made with the Team Battle selection.
So I've moved them all to the -tb split.
In the meantime, Pat has *ed them.

Now we've to discuss if we keep them * or not.
Pat is for "yes", personally I'm more incline for a "no".
It would be good to have a 3rd editor opinion at least ....

Last Ninja, congrats for your 900k+ recording, if you want you can also record for a Single mode game now, as they are separate on Marp whatsoever

Thanks Phil :)

I tried to submit my score for Single Match mode, writing mbomberj-sm or even *mbomberj-sm as game name, but the system says that those names are invalid. What should i put in there in order to submit the replay? Thanks again for your help :)

Just use the game name without the -sm suffix. Phil checked all the INP recordings and none of them were done using Single Mode!!

I'll assume you're no longer interested in a "Team Battle" split since your initial concern about the scoring has been addressed.

The old "tt" split text link floating around. In both the slam master and muscle bomber snapshot links, they contain searches for the -tt when it should be -tb.

I am not sure, at first i was for the *, But the fact that there is a different score board says a lot. I think that was P.L.'s own rule to keep a split if there was a different score board, maybe with some other caveat too.
