Mouse seems to work at start but then goes haywire a few seconds after the playback starts.

Note to convert your new or old chd to the mame106 chd: use chdman.exe from this archive http://mamedev.org/downloader.php?&file=mame0106b.exe and run these three commands

cd mame/roms/carnevil
chdman.exe -update carnevil.chd carnevil.new.chd
move carnevil.chd carnevil.old.chd
move carnevil.new.chd carnevil.chd

then wolf106 should be able to use the carnevil.chd

The usual lightgun bug? Use -noafs, or use a more recent verson of MAME.
