T11 begins

Post by Chufoglu »

Games are Raiden, Ali Baba and 40 thieves, Rygar (hardest difficulty), Varth: Operation Thunderstorm, Eliminator, Tower of Druaga, Psychic 5, Combat School.

Put T11 in description if you take part.

Do we not get the usual t11-* listings? Would be so much easier.

Barry and Potante - both Pat and I can quickly add *t11- games(*ed to prevent leaderboard scoring) if you think I should do so.

I banned the games of the last 7 MARP championships and people voted for these games.

If those games were banned, why did you accept to make the competition on them ?

These games were not banned, are games of previous tournaments. Are banned only games of the last 7 tournaments, not previous

7 is not enough.
Combat School was also in T2, so we have a total of 5 games already played in previous tourneys.
With all the games playable in Mame, it shouldn't be so much

The rules has been based on the ones of previous tournaments. If someone had suggested it before the starting of the tournament, I would not have refused to ban all the games of all the previous tournaments, and not only the games of the last 7 tournaments. Now it is too late to change the rules.

Ok, no problem.
I didn't take notice this rule, I was thinking all were banned.
I'm just explaining why I won't join

Separate t11-* listings would be better, since it then has it's own leaderboard without affecting the regular leaderboard.

OK - I thought that I could upload "new games", aka *t11s, to the database, but apparently I cannot. :( We'll have to rely on Pat on this one. But here's the file so the workload is substantially reduced:

*t11-raiden "Tournament XI - Raiden"
*t11-alibaba "Tournament XI - Ali Baba and 40 Thieves"
*t11-rygar "Tournament XI - Rygar (US set 1)"
*t11-varth "Tournament XI - Varth: Operation Thunderstorm (World 920714)"
*t11-elim2 "Tournament XI - Eliminator (2 Players, set 1)"
*t11-todruaga "Tournament XI - Tower of Druaga (New Ver.)"
*t11-psychic5 "Tournament XI - Psychic 5 (set 1)"
*t11-combatsc "Tournament XI - Combat School (joystick)"

On top of everything Ali Baba has GAME_UNEMULATED_PROTECTION flag that affects gameplay. And two vertical shooters in the same tourney isn't a good idea either ...

imho you should reconsider your whole gamelist if you want a successful tourney, but whatever ...

EDIT: and, on top of that, iirc Raiden has playback issues on 0.106 ...

We've been through this before. If GEGOTW games are ever barred from tournament use, there will never be another GEGOTW. (Not that I'm promising there will be anyway. I just haven't had time the last couple of years, sadly.)

For T11:

I will award a point to the current leader at the end of every Sunday night (11:59 PM GMT) during the tournament for Tower of Druaga, Eliminator, and Ali Baba and 40 Thieves. The player with the most weekly points on each title at the end of T11 will receive $100 (usd). Ties will be broken by earliest point winning. Payable by Paypal only.

I will edit this post each week with the point totals.

Points for 4/3/11: (T) TRB MetroidTeam (A) Phil Lamat (E) DaLar
Points for 4/10/11: (T) Phil Lamat (A) Chrisbo (E) DaLar
Points for 4/17/11: (T) TRB MetroidTeam (A) Chrisbo (E) TRB MetroidTeam
Points for 4/24/11: (T) TRB MetroidTeam (A) Chrisbo (E) TRB MetroidTeam
Points for 5/1/11: (T) TRB MetroidTeam (A) Chrisbo (E) TRB MetroidTeam

The Totals So Far:

Code: Select all

Tower of Druaga Ali Baba and 40 Thieves Eliminator
------------------------- --------------------------- --------------------
TRB MetroidTeam 4 Phil Lamat 1 DaLar 2
Phil Lamat 1 Chrisbo 4 TRB MetroidTeam 3
