Agreed, Cicca. He actually REALLY influenced my love of games; he once told me he did some programming for some Barbie game in the 80's, and that although it was just a Barbie game, it was still a game worthy of love because SOMEONE put a lot of love and effort into it.

Completely changed how I see gaming as a whole, and actually changed me as a person.

I wish I had the chance to tell him.

BenJos (Ben Jos) was one of the nice guys. We chatted on Mirc and stuff for yonks. We talked about gaming in our teens etc etc...but was always pissed off about how his name was spelled and pronounced. So I said "Ben", I will just simply call you "BJ" :-)

I don't upload here these days, but I don't forget the folks who made it possible and fun and worthwhile. Ben Jos was one of them...and whilst we had different opinions on gamers, gaming, our varied taste in music, whose TG stalwart was out to get him,....we agreed this was the greatest song in years....

So, in memorial (and utterly and sadly ironic...)

What a sad news ...
I remember BenJos as being a very fair player, and a very good opponent in several tournaments
(especially on pnickj, snapshot and xenophob -- the last two have still 1st place here)

To remember him there is still a page on Marp :

Good to see you back in action JD. :)

Sad news to hear about BenJos. I still reference his DAT files for older MAMEs (if I'm remembering the correct individual) & we worked together briefly on a couple of the ancient ones. A friendly and open chap.

I stumbled upon this while trying to find out more about his life; it was something we talked about once or twice, but I always thought it was older games instead of relatively more recent ones:

Our man, BenJos, was a Barbie programmer!

I knew of the DOS Barbie stuff (although not specifically which ones), but I'd never heard of FlipOut! before.

Seems to be some sort of puzzle game, but he should have just based it on Pnickies. ;)
