Hey PL, I want to ask you something.
Apparently we all agree for the gamblings(exept el wil of course), but who will take the decision? Who is site's admin? I see you are an editor so I guess you know. I also want to talk to him about my case. If my scores can't be merged automatically I can do it manually.

Perfect! Good news, thank you for the willingness.
I'll spend some hours today to write down an entire list of all gambling games, to start with something. If I encounter any source of doubt or problem, I will ask for opinions.
Be prepared cause it may be a very, very long list.

This site has games arranged by genres, the list should be up to date as well (0.183).

Here's genre.ini from the site, and it seems that there are slightly under 3000 gambling games in MAME...

I was using a similar site, which states there are 2943 "Casino" games, but I actually wanted to reduce the list to what effectively has to be yet archived in MARP. I imagine some of those have been archived already, for being not working or other reasons.

The list you provided says 2879 games, but at least it's more practical, as I believe Pat will want to search for short name, not for long. The other site I was using could give me a *.txt of long names only.
I'll work on this genre.ini, thank you. :)
We're talking of ~8,8% of currently non-archived games, btw.

Just for curiosity, because I'm perhaps doing extra work.
Pat, what happens if you try to archive an already archived game? "Nothing" or "Game returns in the list"?

Those games from that list that have been archived are very very few that you can't even notice them.

Ok, so, here's a list.
I have picked all the romsets under "Casino" category from TJT's post.
I've added at the top several splits & clones from Megatouch and Touchmaster series that i.m.o. can be considered as gambling/card games or still have to be archived because they have a max score.
Let me explain better.

Megatouch and Touchmaster are classified as Multiplay / Compilation, and only MARP has splits for several games, thus the previous research by TJT could not include those splits. (If you know of other splits that can be classified as gambling, let us know)
"Pit Boss" games that are gambling-only are already in the list though.

For Megatouch, I have included all the splits like Horses, Tri-Cards, Run21, Royal Flush, etc. that are gambling or cards games.
For every Megatouch game and clone there's always a Trivia Whiz, which has a max score; these splits have also been added.
Not all of the clones (or not even megat, which is the very first game) have splits for single minigames; but, since they all contain "Trivia Whiz", I have included all of them in the list.

For Touchmaster series, I don't know much about them and didn't experiment if they can get a max score in any split; since somebody took care in the past to describe those splits in their long name (they're all marked as Cards, Skill, Action, or Words), I took in the list all of the "Cards" ones, and all the clones that weren't split.

As stated, MARP editors can review the proposed archive list and implement the changes (faster), or the list can be subject to a general MARP vote (slower).

Thanks! I looked at the casino.txt file, and this is a good start. To make this change, I would also need the long names, preferably in double-quotes. Games already archived will remain as archived. Also, I think we should focus first with gambling/casino category games for now. If there are other games that need to be archived because of EASY max scores, those games need to be handled separately.

There could be some debate and pushback, so IMO the simpler it is to explain what is getting archived (at least for the first round) will get approved and accomplished sooner!

Allright. About easy max scores, we'll talk in the future, I won't forget them as well as I still have other titles to suggest that are not related to gambling. I was listing them at first because they are unsplit compilations of games which include gambling games.

I don't know how to add long names quickly, if not by manual copy-paste (and that's not quick, but not even impossible).
TJT, if you know how to do that quickly, you would be very welcome! (Only for the [Casino] list would be enough)
Otherwise, I'll proceed with that when I wake up.

I believe this will take me 30 hours of copy-pasting.
If only there could be a shortcut...

Good news! The MARP editors approved archiving all the casino games! YEA! =D> The MARP "rules" page has been updated to explain what types of games can be archived.

That said, I have archived all the casino games from the TJT list (2881 games). Also, I have archived all Scorpion games (5274 games). No scores for any of these, so there is no impact to the leaderboard.

We are currently reviewing ALL Megatouch, Touchmaster and Pitboss games (some will remain, some will be archived)
