Arcade Club, Bury UK

Somewhere for the annoying and/or off-topic threads to go. Feel free to post about whatever, but abuse will still be dealt with, and possibly with more force. Especially pac-porno. ;)

Good to see you've still got it AL, I certainly haven't, not in energy nor focus, but maybe with some training... I was dab hand at Hypersports back in the day, I was getting perfects on the archery every other day but chaining those 8000 moles was key. Those weighlifting records in the screenshots are insane.

Cheers Gaz!

Yeah was practicing for a while at home, did manage 2 x 270kg at home on X-arcade controls with newly installed leaf switch buttons but couldn't manage it on the buttons on the actual machine :o

The skeets records by 'HFX' the most impressive for me!

Will give it another go in the new year in both Bury/Leeds....they don't have a Hyper Sports in their new Blackpool venue (yet).

I'm currently in Skipton, UK, for work and took a drive down towards Manchester to visit this place. You are correct Al, it is a great place to visit.

There was also a Q&A session with Jeff Minter as part of celebrations for the recent release of Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story. It was fun to catch up with the guy who wrote some of my favourite Vic20 and C=64 games, and the opportunity to ask him a couple of questions. Shame it had to become a video Q&A, rather than the in-person event originally planned, due to Jeff injuring his back just before he was due to head to Bury.

Cheers,
BeeJay.

Hey Brian!

Glad you made it there! I bet you loved the 3rd floor :D

Skipton is an hours drive from Arcade Club in Leeds btw...smaller than Bury, but a much better venue IMO. Heading back to Leeds in June this year!

Hi Al,

I did end up visiting the Arcade Club in Leeds as well and you're right it's a nicer setup for that building.

Now back on the other side of the world again, trying to adjust to NZ time again... although having said that I'm now on my next work trip across the ditch to Australia which is 2 hours behind NZ time, so eventually I'll get back to NZ time.

Cheers,
BeeJay.
