From what I understand, the Win32 console version of MAME and MAME32
both run fine under XP. Just ake sure you have up to date drivers
and so on.
I have also heard that the DOS version works, but without sound.
Anyone actually tried it?

I have tried the WMAME version on XP. It worked quite fine with and
without sound. I don't remember trying the DOS version, tho.

Oh, I guess I did use DMAME on XP. It worked fine, besides the fact
it wouldn't work well with a Sidewinder controller

I find that MAME32 works fine under XP Pro except that the
screenshots don't work.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I have done everything to get mame32 to work in windows xp, but no
luck. I tried running it in compatibility mode for win 98/me, but that
didn't work either. it loads up fine, but then just disappears when
you try to load a game....have had this problem with several things in
xp, even in compatibility mode

I've had the same luck - none. I've tried everything to get mame to
work and to no avail.

Any help?

Same problem - when I load arcadeathome and fire up a game using the
win32 console compile. I have no problem when using Uomame32 or
mame32, but I prefer the graphic options in the others.

Something I noticed that may be the cause of some greif. On my other
machine I upgraded from Win98 to XP and Mame32 works fine...on this
machine, where I did a clean install..it doesn't work.
Anyone know why?

Just to offer another wildly contradictory experience of MAME on XP,
I found that DOS MAME would not work at all, it just dissapeared when
I ran something. MAME32 would work but with screwed up colours.
Anyone fancy doing a MAME XP??

try the -nohws option, it is probaly notthe colors that are messed up
but the hardware streching of your video card is not good. mamew
works great for me in xp, still trying to get dos mame to work.

Mame works perfectly on my ME operating system.
As far as XP, the (.exe) file refuses to execute
The dos interface pops up and as soon as it comes on it cuts off.
The last thing i want to see is any form of dos.
After i downloaded mame32 0.57 to XP, i tried to execute it twice,
and failed. Please give e some advise that would at least get me to
the graphical user interface please!!!!!!

Um, if there is no GUI, then you obviously aren't using MAME32, are
you?

Get MAME32 from http://www.classicgaming.com/mame32

win98 compatibility mode, to no avail. so what's the secret? it
worked fine on my win 98 (same machine). none of my hardware has
changed!!
