Just had an awesome game but the game didn't give me all my points on the last level for reasons I can't figure out. WTF does the game not want me to have first? Do I get credit for the points if it's a bug?

Edit: Ok, it looks like if you die before you hit the final blow you don't get as many points, fraction of a second difference. Bullshit had to screw up a great score.

at the end of stage 2 in many play I have the same your score (61.000/61.500 after last rock) then, I finish all birds monsters and I have 66.000/67.000 pts.

I never figured this out. I noticed earlier in the week that those demons that appear before the 2nd castle sometimes award you no points at all. Tried to work out different methods to see if there was any way to guarantee points... try killing them with only the side shot things, try using up all the side shots and just use charge shots... nothing produced consistent results. Same thing happens with the ground enemies right after that, and at the beginning of the 3rd chapter... sometimes they give points, sometimes they don't. Very frustrating when you're playing for the highest score possible.

I seriously expected a 820k+ score to pop up in those last few hours, Martin. Did you just have bad luck getting a no-miss run after that? The fire boss was such a pain... I could never get the "safe spot" to work correctly, I would either be in the wrong spot and take hits, or I wouldn't fire fast enough (?) and the screen-bouncing fireballs would hit me anyway? So I gave up on the safe spot entirely. Leeching the screen-bouncing fireballs from the side and THEN going for the safe spot after taking a hit is certainly an interesting strategy.

I never got any points from the ground enemies before the stage 2 boss and the beginning of stage 3 so I just stopped shooting them altogether. Someone who's good at watching memory locations would have to work on this. The fire boss was an occasional problem. Firing fast would keep those bouncing fireballs away, a person tends to lose that speed over time so they do come out sometimes. For the safe spot I make sure I'm right up against the chin and stop moving immediately, adjustments get you killed. Sometimes though, after he'd die I'd manage to shoot him one more time and that last spray of fire would kill me, ugh. It was still more consistent for me to use the safe spot than to shoot normally, seems like he would never die.

I had at least 2 other runs that would have been a new top score but I kept getting screwed by Phelios when I would die just a little bit before my weapon hit him and get less points. Sometimes when being too careful it's the opposite and the game would end. After that I just said screw it since I didn't need a win to stay on.
