might be more than that, best i could do was 136k gets to mission 2, with sound and with out nvram, but if you modify the ctrlr option it dies with same settings much earlier. 2 out of 3.

hi there, yeah tgmame64 will work but you still have to manually remove the nvram files for now. However there are several tricks that allow you to surpass the nvram file. One is: after you remove the nvram folder create a "FILE" in it's place called nvram, you can do this in dos with

cd mame
copy con nvram
^Z

That ^Z is a control Z. Or in windows and you can change the extensions of files, create a new file in the mame directory called nvram (with no extension.) This has worked for many, or for the more daring you also can just create a bat script that records and removes the nvram\gamename.nv automatically before you record.

Option 1: Use a dummy file. Creat a file of any type, rename it to 'nvram' and copy it to your MAME folder. MAME will not overwrite it. When you rename it, you should get a warning about changing the file extension, otherwise, you have Windows set to not show extensions.

Option 2: Open mame.ini (or mame.cfg for the DOS version) and change the value for 'nvram_directory' to NUL. For MAME32, use the GUI. Go to Options -> Directories, select NVRAM from the list box, and change the listed folder to NUL.
