Street Fighter Alpha 3 NVRAM Poll

Okay kids, get out your pencils and paper, it's time for yet ANOTHER poll.

A while back, there was a set of NVRAM goodness posted for Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3 that enabled all the time locked goodness, but nothing really got decided in regards to that. SOOOOOOOOO I intend to see SOMETHING finally get done about it.

This is kind of an iffy deal, as it deals with the hated nvram, but it does propose possibilities... and enforcement and a bunch of things being rewritten... This is gonna run 7 days standard... Please CAREFULLY consider this all before you vote. I'd like to think this can be civilized.

This is just FOR THIS GAME ONLY if the NVRam is allowed.. unless further cases are made in the future, which atm, should remain as a game by game basis.

I think Pat's been pretty clear at least twice before that NVRAM will not be used for this game.

That said, I'm still voting yes. :)

Pat only commented on this issue once in this old thread and the thread just died without further discussion.

In my recent thread (which everybody should read before voting) Pat hasn't said anything and this thread is dying too without any real conclusion.

I thought we could solve this issue with an intelligent discussion without the need for a poll.

We have survival mode competitions in Garou and Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha. SFA3 has a survival mode as well so we should have that one at MARP too regardless of NVRAM.

Well I've just voted "NO" , if anything just out of spite . If NVRAM cannot be used for Hyper Sports , well then it sure as hell shouldn't be allowed for Street Fighter 'Whatever' . So there.

If logic still prevails , well then this Poll should result in a resounding 'NO' vote . Then again , I think logic left the building a good while back :)

That concludes the voting from the Irish Jury .

Cheers ,

AL

p.s What's with another Poll....? Grief.

I wonder whose going to be the first to come up with the idea to have a Poll , to stop needless Polls ?

How can it even be compared? All allowing NVRAM for Hyper Sports does is give more points. Whoopdeedo.

This is why I think only editors should be able to start a poll....and actually require there be at least some discussion on the topic in a thread before deciding to create a poll for it.

When I have created a poll or two in the past I just started with a normal thread first to see the discussion to see if a poll seemed even worth trying.

Perhaps even in this case if it was discussed some first...before the poll was started then a few no votes maybe would have been convinced to vote yes for this one.

I'm pretty sure most just quickly vote when they see a poll. Even if there is a discussion present in the thread they don't bother reading it before casting their vote.

Sounds like poll about polls coming soon.

------------
Poll should still be started by anyone, but:
first make poll (with voting options)and discuss about it few days, voting allowed after that time.
------------

I would like to vote for no here(bitter nvram...clone-roms for different characters???)...but not my game, not my business, don't know anything about it. Will not vote before discussion, and maybe not after that either.

PARADOX!

Those who aren't editors won't start the poll because it would be against their thoughts, and those who are editors won't start the poll because they would not benefit from it. Hence, the poll will never be started.

nah, we would hope the editors would show no bias toward that kind of decision.

If they see a discussion for a rule change worthy of a poll then they should make that poll even if they end up voting against the change.

The real reason for this desired poll change is because about 25-50% of all polls started either have odd choices that end up being edited...or aren't clear....an unclear question....or just started without even first allowing for any discussion on it.

The latter is the real issue IMHO. People see the poll and vote without ever discussing it. Unless I'm totally sure how I'm voting I always wait 3-4 days into a poll to see the discussion cuz something in that discussion could sway me one way or the other.

For example the recent leeching poll started by tar....it was totally clear this was a lame way to play the game and not deserving of a high score etc. cuz anyone could do it..yet there were still many votes saying allow it.

It turns out most of those allow it votes were people that didn't bother to check the discussion and specific issue at all..but just voted for it cuz they are in favor of leeching in general.

There are several types and degrees of leeching. I am against the ones that require little to no skill where the score for the game means little to nothing....but am for leeching where it just adds to your score some..but requires you to still advance through levels of the game....requiring skill.

So I'm careful to check out each case before I vote. If all discussed or at least read the discussion prior to voting that we likely wouldn't have this discussion about only editors starting polls.

I don't know what you mean there.

The discussion is here: viewtopic.php?t=10491

Ask all your questions there and I'll answer them.
