I didn't have mame63 on my computer, and the link from MARP wouldn't work, so I went to mame.net to get the damn thing just to get this one step closer to zeroing for using such an old MAME version.
Unfortunately it plays back to the advertised score for me.

Might be it.
Also, I note that mame63 thinks that the shorthand option "-pb" stands for "pause_brightness" instead of "playback".
USE RECENT MAME VERSIONS!

When I emailed Pat about it a while back, he (politely) told me that I had not been at MARP long enough to tell whether a recording plays back to its correct score or not.
Since I have seen no improvement in my ability in this regard I have not bothered to offer again.
Other people's recordings will either get confirmed or they won't.
As long as mine don't get
uncomfirmed, that's all I'll worry about.
