Election rules changes - post 1

Due to what happened with Buttermaker in the 2004 election, I move the following rule be modified to the election rules, with the changes noted in CAPS:

B. Eligibility to Vote
4. Exceptions to vote can be petitioned to any editor. If the petitioner receives a majority vote of the editors, the exception is granted. IF THE EDITORS FAIL TO ACHIEVE A MAJORITY ON EITHER SIDE OF A PETITION WITHIN 72 HOURS AFTER THE PETITION WAS WRITTEN, THE PETITIONER AUTOMATICALLY EARNS THE RIGHT TO VOTE. Editors can immediately grant petitions at any time by a majority vote.

All in favor of the motion will signify by voting "aye" - all opposed will signify by voting "no". Because this poll affects the rights of a particular set of members, this motion requires a 2/3 majority vote. This poll expires in the traditional seven days.

I think this should be: "petitioned to election coordinator"
or regulation coordinator....why?...

As happened, the right way is not to ask publicly at message board for right to vote: If you give me right to vote, I give you my vote and so on.

Not so sure about swiftness of communication between editors .
If asked from any editor, and he does not do anything/away from computer etc, then the following rule change would give "petitor" right to vote;

What means majority of editors?
a)majority of all editors? or
b)majority of editors who voted/answered for petition?

I assume you mean option b.

Editors can immediately grant petitions at any time by a majority vote.

If I understand this rule change right, it brings 2 new features:
1) 72 hour TIME limit for "petition" process
2) If there's a TIE with editor votes, right to vote is granted (previously majority of editors votes was necessary).

Nope. Option A. Must have four votes to grant.

Although... with the new filtering rules for voting in an election, this rule should probably be used minimally.
