TOURNAMENT 8 - TIME TO VOTE FOR GAMES

Please submit your marp login id/name and three games [in mamename format] that you would like for T8. If you know, please append the game types as well such as platform,puzzle,fighter,shooter,etc. there are some rules about voting but if you have a marp id and have submited a recording you are eligible. If you are unsure which games are not allowed, you may search through this page for mamename games which will not be allowed. The games that have been used in the past and will not be alowed are listed below. Games from the tournaments 1 and 2 and 3 are allowed (i.e. not listed here). Games from all other tournaments are not allowed. And to be complete, their clones are not allowed either. I think i have all the clones but if I am missing some or if i missed a whole tournament's games altogether please lemme know.

The voting will close May 14th, after which the top games will be randomly chosen from the votes and we will debate to find which ones (and settings) are the 8 which will be played. T8 will be played during the 8 weeks starting May 22 00:00:00 GMT and ending July 17th 00:00:00 GMT. Players can use wolfmame81 or xwolfmame80. bear with me as it is my first tourney!

this one seems pretty reasonable, I'm thinking to not allow if you can't play with a 1GHZ at fs6, this one i can play fs0 with a 1.5GHZ, what is your mhz met?

700mhz. Hopefully the games selected would run at 95%-100% speed on even this fossil of a computer. Space Bomber would also be a problem for me speedwise (partially because of the horrible lag at 2-3), which is a shame because I like that game.

i'm going to allow sbomber and puchi to be "chosen" by the random number generator since i can play these at fs6 with a 1mhz, we can debate speed issues around this borderline after games have been chosen and bump them up/down with more convincing speed evidence, more people have faster computers (the good of the many outweigh the needs of the few...). Metrackle i'm sure you can play these faster with mame70, be sure you've tried all the mame plus options with filters and the like for speeding up wolfmame80 games, but it may just be 700mhz won't be fast enough for getting 95% avg speed for T8 games but we'll see what games are chosen. I'll be giving more freedom here on slow games since they've been pretty much banished on all other tourneys... you can sue me later if it doesn't work out.

On my old Athlon 950, Taito F3 games run full speed without fskip so long as sound is disabled. Psikyo SH-2 games are a different matter, you would definitely be pushing it at 1GHz, even with sound disabled. I guess with frameskipping, it may be okay, but I couldn't imagine playing Space Bomber at anything more than fskip 6. I've also noticed that Dodonpachi has some slowdown in the odd area - which never happened in older versions, and there is no obvious change otherwise.
