playbacks to 1131 for me (lost 0-1) ; others ?
We discuss with Frankie and both we think that using the usual soccer scoring is better ; opinions ?

I also get 1131 in that recording with a loss of 0-1 in the first and only match.
As the game runs extrmely slow on my machine its a pain for me to play it and check out the inbuild scoring system, but when Phil think its no good I trust that as he's some kind of expert in these games

A first good reason to apply soccer scoring to this one is that it will avoid someone to upload a loss.
In-build scoring : Gerhard gets 1131
Soccer scoring : Gerhard gets 0
I play only once and make 1-0 1-4 (in-build score=5200+ ; it rewards goals but also passes, possession ... blah)

whats wrong with that? by such logic everybody should only count the ghosts you eat on pacman or something ...

Yet there are special rules edited 15.1.2005. Should discuss first before making rules. Should post at
regulation forum that special rules are edited, as at golf/baseball/mahjong? games threads, atleast when there's inbuilt scoring programmed! Don't walk over other marpers.
Thanks.
Maybe it would be interesting for football fans to have one different scoring.

I made those Special Rules, simply because I didn't see that scoring while playing. I was confused by the slow speed of the game on my crap machine
All Phil is doing is asking for opinions, and give his own opinion on it.
And I don't think its needed to post on RF every time we make Special Rules for Football games, as they are included as permanent rules here:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/plamat/scoring.html
The only reason I do this for Golf games is to let players know when games are fixed/released, and to let them know how many holes are played in the different games.
No one is walking over anyone here

Maybe not, when there is no scoring system for the game ingame, this case the game did have one though. Phil did exactly right to ask if other players agree with special rules for evosocc...just did it in wrong order, first making rules, then asking players.
Now we see that Gerhard, Haze and TJT think that original scoring might be better
We have many editors, if they all start creating new rules when they want, there will be a mess.
I'm just asking to keep other marpers informed about rule changes.
I would like every new special rule change to be posted at regulation forum also(just like golf games update thread)...this way players can say if they don't like new game rules, or if they have better idea etc.
(I trust Phil's judgement and great work with mahjong game rules, so no need for such thread. unless Phil especially wants to do that. There's not been any controversy about mahjong games at marp, knock on wood)
Of course when game has already scoring system, or otherwise game rule doesn't fit into golf-mahjong category of pre-discussed scoring...or there would be a possibility for controversy...then a new thread should be made at Regulation forum.

Logic of pacman is to eat everything, not only ghosts.
Logic of soccer is to score goals and nothing more.
Tommi, maybe launching a poll would be good here ?
I will play with the scoring chosen, no problem for me with that ; but I would be surprised if usual soccer players like Mike_Myers prefer the in-build scoring ...
And no, Gerhard didn't say he prefers in-build scoring ; he just used it because if not his score would have been ... 0 !

I'm a novice when it comes to soccer (real life and gameswise) but here is my 2 cents:
Use the built in scoring system until a problem shows up. If the game gives you more points by just pass the ball and never score a goal etc. (socca leeching!) Then there is something wrong! I don't claim that there is such a problem here (or the lack of it!) but that is my idea in general. No need to complicate things if the built in scoring system works.

I've changed the Special Rules to state that we'll use the build-in scoring system for now.
But still, can anyone get Gerhard's recording to playback to his advertised score?

...and I was itching to make a poll, lol. If somebody still wants to use different scoring it's still possible(I mean poll).

Playsback fine for me. 1487 points/ no goals/ he didn't write initials-just "end of playback".

well, i don't agree, if you watch football you watch it for more than just the goals, not every famous player is a striker who always scores, the game has far more depth than that... infact some of the football replays i've watched at marp have been really boring because the player found one way to score goals, scores about 15 in each match, and nothing else ....
if the scoring system is actually well thought out and balanced and creates interesting matches I don't see why it shouldn't be used, if its unfair then maybe not.

There are a hell of a lot of arcade games that have "unfair" scoring systems (Hello, Capcom). But that's what they have, and there is little point to changing them. We should only need to produce scoring systems for those games that don't have one.

I'm talking only about logic, not pleasure to watch a match or an input.
That's 2 different things (hélàs !).
If not, Tchecoslovaquie in 1958 and Holland in 1974 would have win the world cup

If it were only about pleasure to watch, then Brazil would be allways the winner
(now someone insert here the pic of brazilian female supporter, please)
