I have win32 35rc2. and as Windows '98 has no native MS-DOS, the MS-
DOS version of MAME is of no use to me. I tried it, and computer
crashes even when doing something small like dominoes.

You should have no problems getting Mame "DOS" version running in a
"DOS Box" under Windows 98. I know of at least one person running in
this way without any problems. You probably want to persevere with
the different switch settings for soundcard and video etc to find a
combination that works for you. Likewise I always run the Mame "DOS"
version in a "DOS Box" under Windows95 and have no problems either.
<p>
To recap then, it's not that Mame "DOS" version won't run under a
Win98 "DOS Box" it's just that you haven't found the right settings
to run it with yet.
<p>
Best of luck - and remember it will run faster for most games than
Mame32 once you get the DOS version running - especially if you use
an Assembler core version of Mame.

everything by booting to DOS - there should be an option in your

heavily congested and very weak right now.

pre-installed. I haven't had any problems at all running DOS MAME out
of a DOS box (aside from expected emulation bugs on games and whatnot)

For some god awful reason, my machine will not run MS-DOS software at
all, have gone around the bend with the maker's tech support, but
that is all I have, the only way I can play MAME is through MAME32.
I can't run it in a box, I can't run it with a fox. I can't eat green
eggs and ham, I am sorry Sam I am...
